i previously ran a GFB bleed valve @ 11psi. car ran fine etc... i recently installed a TURBOTECH boost controller... now i installed it and tried adjusting my boost and the car keeps dumping boost when you put your foot down around 4000 + rpm... iv adjusted it over 30 times - and i have drilled a biger hole(now 1.5mm) in the previouse hole in it like people have said - because some were manufactured with and with out this hole - which can cause pressure getting stuck between the boost controller and the actuator.. so iv done that

yet i still have the same problem..

now i was talking to a friend and he sais it could be misfiring because this controller is far better than the gfb and is making stronger boost which is causing this missfiring?

?? he told me i need to gap the spark plugs , which i was told - it would fix this problem ?? he said the current setting is 0.8 and should be 0.6? .... i would of searched but i dont know what im looking for... he also mentioned something about tapping it on the concrete to get the correct size....

any help would be gladly appreciated.

make sure it is connected up properly, sorry cant help u with how to because im still new to the turbo scene but yeah i had a similar problem and it wasnt installed correctly.

usually misfiring happens when your coilpacks are getting old or your running too much boost. That being said most people are running 0.8mm gap (standard is 1.1mm... which im running at with 14psi and standard coilpacks and i have no misfire so im lucky... knock on wood lol)

you tap the plug on the concrete to get the gap down and measure it with a feeler gauge.

also check the spring and ball inside the controller and see if anything suspicious is going on there

sorry cant be much more help

yeah i done some searching last night... there is a remedy on this apparently which i will try out this weekend...

most coil packs get hair line cracks in them , which causes the spark to escape.. most people have taped them up and it fixes the problem so its been said.. i will attempt this , this weekend , and if not i will try to gap the spark plugs.

Remove your coil pack cover plate and start your car in the dark and rev it up. If the coil packs are leaking you will see the blue electrics all over the coil packs. This obviously means they are leaking.

Nail polish is the go. I had it painted on a coil on a previous car and it lasted for 2 years.

Coloured or clear, doesn't matter. It's a great insulator.

I would double check the installation of your bleed valve also. Sometimes different brands connect in a different way. Read the instructions carefully to make sure it's all sweet.

    • Curious to see how the SpeedTek stuff holds up
    • The holdups last year were drivetrain related. I had the car out right after getting the bearing issue resolved. Third launch and the car didn't move after releasing the clutch. It had sheared all the engagement teeth off the 1st gear.    Thankfully no other damage was done. I set an aftermarket gear beside an OEM gear and found that the engagement teeth on the OEM gear were much larger and better supported. Looking through my bin of spare transmission gears I found that there are two types of tooth on the OEM first gears - the larger tooth and the smaller tooth. It looks like most aftermarket gearset manufacturers base their design on the smaller tooth. OEM large tooth left - Speedtek, OS Giken, etc or OEM small tooth right Decided to give that larger engagement tooth a try. Pressed the ring off an OEM gear and sent it to a transmission manufacturer here in the States. They did their "faceplating" operation with my synchro ring on the Speedtek gear.   I reassembled it, took it back to the track and promptly destroyed the gear itself.  I'll rebuild this and use it as a spare - thankfully just first gear and the countershaft are damaged beyond repair. Definitely disheartening but my welded on engagement tooth ring held up!  Moved to Speedtek's dog engagement design as the gears appear to be much stronger. So far they have taken much more abuse at the track. Also scored a Stillway lockout from the Netherands for super cheap. It's for some other RB transmission so it took a bit of fabrication to fit but honestly a very easy job. I also had to heavily modify the gates as they were very different.   Then for some reason at the last test and tune a silicon coupler below the throttle blew off and took out the radiator and fan. Thankfully it was in the burnout box and not down track. This car is really beating me up - I still haven't made a pass in it. Ran it through the gears many times on the street but it keeps biting me at the track.  Currently in the process of replacing the radiator and remaking the throttle pipe to remove the coupler and use a cast 90 and a vband. I WILL get this thing down the track...
    • Covers most of the above points really. There's a few exceptions but most just see driving as an irritating but necessary task they must complete if they want to get anywhere on time. Also see it as a good time to show their awesome multi-tasking abilities on their mobile and/or doing their makeup.
    • I don't believe I posted pictures of the second oil pump pickup I added so here they are. Data shows it gets oil pressure up to the relief pressure much earlier in the RPM. Is that important? Not likely... This was just another attempt to fix the bearing issues.   I also heavily opened up the inlet to the pump since it now had to flow oil from two pickups. I believe the diameter increased about 1/8".
    • Yes, ther are plenty of [racist statement alert] terrifying 50+ yr old ladies of a certain ethnic origin who have no demerits yet still manage to park their cars on top of roundabouts, hanging out of multistory car parking structures and other wild shenanigans. Somehow they puddle through years of driving without ever attracting the attention of the cops, yet the whole time, they are an instant away from doing something spectactularly stupid.
