Hey All,

Can anyone recommend a workshop close to Stones Corner where I can get some fluids changed for my GTR?

Chapman & Chapman can't assure me of a time when they can work on the car and I don't want to sit around all day waiting for a simple 30 minute job to be done.

And Elite Racing are too busy to help out.

Called them up, if these guys are as good with a spanner as they are with customer service and pricing then I will be using them regularly!!

I got a fixed time to have the work done and the price was less then half of Chapman & Chapman!

Thanks Spook's_Skyline!

so when is it happenin Ben?

fyi, ive never used em

whenever i drop off jnr there though, there is no shortage of cars inside and out, and he swears by mick

he did a full engine rebuild on his ca18det (race everything) and he looks after the young fella, and hes real happy

so id say you will be right

if yor in thursday morning, keep an eye out for the black 180 with the tyre imprints all up the passenger side (he put it into the tyre wall)

under the hoodee is worth a look though! (exterior is rough as)

bad experience with Tuneauto bad, that's my opinion.

mick is a nice enough guy, but it should be called- pipework automotive or something. because tuning is not there specialty!

yes they do cheap work, and yes there is a reason experience costs.

This may not make me popular- but I wan't to be a help to our SAU bro's and sisters cause I love skylines and I love the scene. So I must say what I know from experience, because mick can build and can fabricate- but there's no dyno and no tuning skills to boot at "tune?automotive"

feel free to pm, I'm not trying to trash anyone- its just history and fact (no dyno, no tuning, but fabricating etc. might be ok)

I think the feedback is good to hear and it has been done in a constructive way without slanging off in public.

I am going to Tuned Automotive for some basic mechanical work and madr32 has said himself that Mick from Tuned can build and fabricate.

So it seems only the tuning aspect is being disputed and thats fine. I don't trust anyone in Brisbane to tune a car, I have seen too many problem with too many tunes for my liking.

Thanks to all for the great feedback.

Only 1 more sleep and I will know for certain how Tuned Automotive are

Cheers,

Ben.

I know mick and I know he doesn't have room for a dyno, I also know the name and location of TuneAutomotive, and I know he's made some mistakes in tuning the car I took there. That's why I will mention it to other fellow skyline/import owners, cause that's fact!

You may be mates with mick and that's cool, cause he's a nice guy and he is.

I don't have a inter-personal beef with him, but as I said I have had a bad experience with his tuning work that cost both money and mechanical parts and I can't support his work due to that history.

I don't want to trash anyone, but I wont support poor tuning or unjustified comments. Good luck ben, hope it all works out well for you- go skylines, great cars. Hope your S14 goes hard, fast and long showbag and that you proove me wrong on the "tuning" cause I'm willing to give people a fair go, but when someone stuff's something and won't admit to it- well that's for the general SAU to decide how they feel.

Thanks to the guys (mrgilly, pear) for your support.

i serously doubt theres a workshop in brisbane that hasnt had unhappy customers

its always good to hear ALL opinions, especially if presented in an honest and straight up way

the more info the better!

well my baby is in there now.

Mick seems to know his stuff with most aspects of a Skyline.

I was initially misinformed about the price though, no fault of Mick.

The person who took my call the other day guessed a rough price and it was out by a bit.

It will now cost a little more than what Chapman & Chapman had quoted me.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
