How much does turbo light , royal purple and SIN cost? i my self use mobile one and have done for years. im planing on trying motul because i hear its a bit cheaper.

Most of these oils run around the 55/75 dollars for 5 litres. Money well spent.

Last time I bought my oil it was $89.99 at autobarn slacks creek I am hoping there is somewhere cheaper than that as I do think they have raised the price from $79.99 (5L) Anyone know where to get a better deal on Royal Purple?

also whats your views on oil filters I have been using the KnN ones so far are the cheaper brands as good? what about genuine?

Another vote for Royal Purple.

I have dyno readouts from a study conducted by Fast Fours or Hot Fours (can't recall off hand) showing Royal Purple topping the list for power with Mobile 1 coming second.

They used a almost stock Honda Integra and they tried the various oils in it 1 by 1 and dyno'd it with the various oils in.

Everyone has an opinion on what oil is good and for the most part nobody has any scientifically proven reason why. For this reason alone I chose to try Mobil 1 and Royal Purple and I must say that I could swear I felt the difference if thats possible.

Cheers,

Ben.

i have attached the results of an oil comparison taken from zoom magazine. i don't have the article as i have issue 109. they have printed this table at the start saying one of their previous issues (105) ran that article but the table wasn't formatted correctly

as you can see...

most power came from: nissan genuine, mobil 1, castrol magnatec, fuchs titan

least power came from: pennzoil platinum, valvoline xld

does anyone have a copy of issue 105 for more info on their testing?

Is the dyno power read out a good comparison as to how the oil protects?

no, but how can one possible determine long term protection in a clinical manner?

different engines, different condition, different drivers

it would be impossible to do a double-blinded randomised control trial comparing oil types.. that's the gold standard for clinical evidence :D

Try "Hi Octane" for a cheaper buy price on royal purple. They've been advertising a lower price than autobarn.

I got my last 5litres for $75 and that sheet (power and oil pressure) seems true on the road- I noticed a difference over Motul with more power and oil pressure and temp stability out of the royal purple

PS. REDLINE on the list is the same Royal Purple 10/40 I believe

    • Hi. Hoping someone can maybe tell me if the same R34 cable works on R33 coup? Or tell me how I can fix mine. It broke the same way 1" away from the eye. Blessing
    • Robertson was a Canadian inventor, and it absolutely reigns supreme here. 95% of our screws are Roberston. It's literally the only option you can buy off store shelves. What would it have lost out too? I believe it's also very popular in the US.  My reference to imperial was pointed to both NPT and BSP.
    • No. BSP lost to the cultural/technical imperialism of living next to Trumpistan. Face it, Robertson screws were better and still pretty much lost out to the yank stuff. The Europeans hate the Brits and they don't use NPT. NPT is just as "imperial" as BSP is, being based on those useless inch thingos. Just done differently.
    • I live in Quebec. Our license plate slogan is "Je me souviens" Translated is "We will remember" as a reminder to when England conquered us and that we must never forget what they did. Long story short, BSP is unheard of here due to being an English design. I'm surprised our nazi anti english government office the OQLF hasn't kicked in my door yet just talking about it, yet alone imperial anything.
