Most definately yes it's a good idea. A lot of people on these forums have done it and haven't looked back. The lighter weight of the 32 and the extra power the RB25 gives equals a hell of a lot more of a fun ride. Do a search on the forums, I'm sure you will find a fair bit of info, I know for a fact I saw a thread today about it but for the life of my I can't find it!

Not sure on the price buddy, I haven't looked into it myself but keep in mind, does that include the RB25 gearbox also?

As for Regency, I don't think it's a problem as long as...

A) You let them know

and

B) Make sure your brakes are capable

But just to be sure, call them and find out

i put an rb25det in my 31. Best thing i ever did. rb25s are such great motors. Id check with regency also, may need to get engineers cert coz of increased in motor capacity, power etc. Definetly worth getting rb25det box. rb20det one will last a while but not forever!

if u buy a Rb25det box make sure the synchros between 3rd and 4th aint f**ked. if so ull be using red line shock proof like me till u need a rebuild of the trans or just new synchros put in and still a >1500 job.

ok jms have quoted me $5500 for rb25 supplied and fitted!! is that good or do u recomend somewhere else???

Yeah thats not a bad price but still shop around at Nisswreak and Zimports for prices

Bigger brakes are always a good thing and with regency I thought all you had to do was swap the engine numbers over but could have changed now and need to get the engine converstion approved

Hope it goes well :stupid:

Yeah Ive done my research on the r32 rb25 conversion, 5500 is a bit much for just the engine supplied and fitted. You can pick up an rb25 + gearbox for 3000-3500 and most places charge between 1200-2000 for labour. Contact predator, he has his own site for the conversion and can help with any questions. The gearbox isnt essential unless you plan on going over 200rwkw.

hey thanks heaps guy looks like u have gone out of ur way to help! its much appreciated! thanks guys!!! ALSO.... d1 garage quoted 5200 for series 1 rb25det with rb20det 5speed, and 5500 for series 2 rb25det with rb20det 5speed....

QUOTE:

To give you more accurate price we will need to see the vehicle here at the workshop to check everything is in good order to complete the conversion.

The conversion price will include new engine oil / filter, spark plugs, coolant, fuel filter, gearbox oil, and diff oil.

To drive in drive out fitting an RB25DET complete engine package and using your original RB20DET 5 speed box (providing its manual) will be $5200 for a RB25DET series-1 engine and $5500 for a RB25DET series-2 engine.

thats what they had to say!

ALSO is the engineers cert extra ontop of the engine/install?

thats a rip off in my books. i got my conversion done in a 31 over 4 years ago with a series 1 rb25det with my rb20det box drive in drive out for 4200. motor was 3k and labour was 1.2k. go to fours n more

Where's that located?

hey. i thought it was abit pricey.. ne ways would i need the rb25 gear box? and do they do engeneer cert and is it extra ontop of the install?? and weres the best place to go!? i just wanna know the exact costs?? like bit by bit and what i need to do! lol... i have FMIC, gtr fuel pump, and imthink the brakes r larger??

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
