I've got a R32 GTR (93 model) and the gear box is leaking fluid. I looked under the car and cannot see where it is leaking from exactly. It just looks like its sweating very heavily and there is a coating of fluid all over under the gear box and the line which goes to the rear of the car. Its not dripping out but definately leaking somewhere.

Is there a particular place where they usually leak from?

Thanks

don't stress just yet. it could be fluid that was thrown out through the breather during hard driving with a full gearbox. clean it off. drive it for a week and see where it's coming from. :bunny:

Ok, but when i leave the car for a few days, there is gear box oil on the floor, just a few drips.

Oh, that sounds like a pain to fix. How do i confirm that it is this? can i see the boot from the bottom of the car?

just pop the center console around your gear stick and than there will be 4 screws that fasten a dust boot to the floor than under that is your gear stick boot which seals into the gear box mine split once and made a nice mess, would only really leak if i was givin it a thrashin, worth a check though

but if its coming from the front of your gear box than it could be front main seal but give it a good degrease and check that breather hose

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
