Dr Drift has a really good rep on here and is known around the scene as one of the better people for tunning the stock ecu on your skyline. He can adjust your standard computer to get better throtle response, better economy and more power using the mods that you have to the best of their ability.

I am trying to put together a group of people here in Canberra to do a day of tunning sessions with Dr Drift.

Is there any interest out there?

Check out his sight at DR Drift

CEF11E does them locally so maybe that's why there's not much interest.

Well. Seeing as how I'm not getting any interest for Dr Drift I'll change tack.

Who has had CEF11E tune their car and what sort of results did it get? How long did you spend on the Dyno?

Hi All

Firstly let me inform you all that by no means am I a professional tuner. and do not wish to take any business away from those that are such as Dr Drift or Jeff from speedlab. I have developed my interest and skills in tuning from my own desire to learn and a few years of practical experience.

I have a technical computer background and spent a few years developing single board computers and industrial appliances for the Australian industry and learned all about programming and EPROM's so naturally when i bought a car the first thing i would do would be pull the ECU apart and find out what sort of smarts it had and would read the ignition and fuel maps. I had also been modifying performance cars for a few years and had developed a good sound mechanical knowledge.

So I decided to seek the skills of a professional tuner to teach me the ropes and ins and outs of tuning turbocharged engines. I hung around for about a year and was involved in the tuning of mainly RB powered cars. during this time I was always fiddling with my own car and always on the quest for more power. Interest started to develop from friends and I started to tune their cars. I have been doing this now for 2 years and have had no disasters and excellent results. I do not push a tune to the limit to squeeze every kilowatt out, rather develop a progressive and responsive smooth tune throughout the entire rev range not just WOT that many seem to do.

I currently have a R32 skyline with an RB20det producing 240odd rwkw and it retains full factory idle and fuel economy. it also looks dead near standard. I am happy to talk to anyone that is interested in having their car tuned and I will give you my honest opinion about what is the best option, your power goals and expectations.

I can give some numbers but really only from my own car. I have tuned ECU's for forum members but have not recorded who they are but if they are kind enough to post up some results i would be grateful.

CeJay will be getting his car tuned when and if the new turbo will be going on and i am sure he would be happy to share his results when finished. I have also recently done a mail order tune for Haysey so pm him and see what he has to say

I am not a non profit organization :) but am not really in it for the money either so at this stage if you wanted a tune done by me you would be paying $150 for the time it takes plus dyno time at the rate of $100 per hour ( I do not profit from this you can book the dyno and meet me there) I have been getting a lot of inquiries since the power fc has stopped production in certain models.

I have the facility to map trace, datalog and everything needed to to a correct and safe tune.

I can tune anything from completely standard cars to bigger turbo, injectors, AFM, cams, larger capacity, nitrous and more. usually most remaps are mild upgrades as people that tend to rebuild with forged bottom ends and cams usually want to splash out and get an autronic.

Thanks for reading!

Please be aware that I do not tune R33 skylines due to the chip the ECU uses to store the maps. I do not have the equipment to tune R33's.

I can remap RB20DET RB26DETT RB30E VG30DETT VG30DET VG20DET CA18DET.

I have one of ceffies chips in my RB20, have done for about 8 months now. It was tuned to my cars specs on info i gave him, have had the car on dynos (for the purpose of monitoring A/F ratios only) and have not had a single problem. Except now i need a diff. Mine wasnt done on a dyno but i'm more than happy with the tune.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well i've bitten the bullet and am now getting the injectors added and the boost control hooked up so i'm booking a tune with CEF11E. I'll post the results and before and after dyno sheets up here once it's done.

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
