G'day guys, my name is sean and im looking at buying myself an R34 GTS25-T.

Im 21 from melbourne and have loved skylines for a very very long time and have finally seen the light.

Im after a manual but will prolly go auto, stock 2.5 litre turbo.

I dont know a great deal about the R34's, are the NEO 6 engines the only ones out for 2.5L T or do they still have RB25DET's.

Do all GTT's have the 3 gauges above the center of the dash or do they differ, because ive seen some with little LCD screens in there and one i looked at at a yard today had nothing there at all.

What sort of problems am i to encounter with a NEO6, do they suffer oil leaks, boost probs, weak parts etc.

Im looking for one at about the 50-80000km mark, is there anything i should be mindfull of when purchasing.

How easy are the NEO engines to add an aftermarket cooler to? Im not looking to overly mod this car but i would like to fit a bigger cooler and BOV.

Are Aftermarket Stereo Head units easy to fit into the console or do they require some messing with?

Im to understand the NEO6 has 205KW at the fly and 333Nm Torque, what are these figures when transferred to the wheels? What is the diff ratio?

What can i do about discoloured / cloudy headlights, ive noticed especially with the R33's the headlights they discolour alot, i know with fords you can get 1600 grit sandpaper and slowly scrub away at the glass and they come up like new if done right, are R34 lights plastic or glass?

How pricey are parts, stock and aftermarket performance. (My theorys always been if it breaks replace it with something better and faster)

Thats probably about it for now, if anyone bothers to reply, thanks in advance.

;)

R34's are GT-T not GTS25T

the turbo version has the NEO RB25DET

some good polish should clean up those headlights (some have even used toothpaste)

goodluck champ, and welcome to SAU forums ;)

;) atmospheric BOV is a bad idea, entering the world of skylines gets you a free pass to the police most wanted list. Plumback is probably your best option

* Factory option of gauges or LCD screen (maybe option of neither but propably screen removed)

* In the tutorials theres a "What to look for when buying a skyline" thread which you should learn word for word before going to check out a car. Tells you what all the trouble areas are and what to look out for. As with most imports the dials are wound back so look in the engine bay for a sticker with any mention of 100,000km. Dont get suckered in to the whole japanese dont drive there cars much, less wear means less km which i fell for. Was shown the sticker a few weeks ago so my "74,000km import" became an 110,000km+ import.

* Ridiculously easy... ash tray, few bolts, clips and your done.

* So many different methods (toothpaste, kitten cut and polish (my choice), plexiglass cleaner etc) theres a thread about it.

* Pretty expensive when something goes wrong but the aftermarket parts arent too bad in comparison to other makes of cars, all up to how much you care about name brands like everything else

Welcome to the forums, head over to the Victoria forums to get info on cruises and meetings etc

Thanks alot for the help guys.

I went and looked at another one at SEI Autos in dandy, it had 88k, was a manual, i talked him to 20k flat.

I dont trust the other dude then cause the lcd was missing all together.

Where can i find decent skylines in the mornington peninsula area? ive only found 2 in dandy atm.

Thanks again.

If you're looking at getting a GTT then you won't be getting an LCD screen. They are only on GTR's. You'll either get the three guages or nothing. I'm not too sure what determines guages or no guages though. Good luck with the search.

The GTT could also come with a screen however it was used for navigation (I think) or was it able to pick up their TV stations or something?

It's a screen nonetheless.

    • There are several aftermarket options available, from not-too-painful moneyhttps://justjap.com/collections/driveshafts-bearings/products/d-max-reinforced-replacement-rear-driveshaft-set-fits-nissan-s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-r34-c35 and  https://justjap.com/products/crank-motorsport-billet-rear-axles-fits-nissan-skyline-r33-gts-t-r34-gt-t?srsltid=AfmBOorQk4xkGUa98kO7v2ePLUiNt-HRrM2AwWNw9mbSIVE1ujBVwY__, all the way up to The Driveshaft Shop https://driveshaftshop.com/skyline-cv-axles/
    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
    • Yeeeppp, been following a lot of the testing on the latest Xona stuff and there are some mental results.  He also went over 1000hp @ 4 hubs on his Mainline with a XRE6364S (63mm) which was also well into the 20psi range before 4000rpm on a 2.5. Crazy stuff. Fwiw the XRE5964S is basically the modern equivalent of their old HTA3582 - would drive nicely enough on an RB25 or 26, but proven capable of a huge amount of power if you want to spicy with rpm tho even at sane boost levels will make stout numbers
    • The axels in my R33 seem tired, and have a bit of play in them. I cannot find any new of course, not interested in buying used, but I am looking to see if anyone can identify some cross compatible axles. In the states I have seen suggested for S chassis the J30 axles, however for the skyline (as best I can tell) the lengths are about an inch off (2.5cm) on both sides. R33 my measure L 22" R 24.5" GPT L 22.5" 24.25" J30 L 23.5" 25.5"  so shaft length is probably an inch wider. Not sure if someone has another still remanufactured option besides the J30. I figured worst case I can buy a pair tear them down and swap the center shaft. My other option was reaching out to GSP to see if they cannot piece together a set, since the axle stubs are still manufactured, I wouldn't think it be that hard to find a shaft or make a shaft work.
