Had this topic in the sus section but got no help so I thought I'd try here

if I need a cefiro cross member to put a rb in a S13 as it sits the motor lower than a 32 cross member

could I fit a cefiro cross member into a 32 to get a lower centre of balance i.e better handling?

Im selling my sil and getting another 32 again soon

Im already going to swap the rear craddle to a non hicas s13 one

also pulling the motor out to swap for 25det so thought I might as well swap the cross member if there would be any benefit

waits........

From memory it sits 2.3cm lower and does clear the bonnet this is with a 3025 though.

You have to use the RB25 cross over pipe as the blow off valve on the 32 cross over pipe hits the bonnet regardless.

RB25's do not have clearance issues going straight into R32's.

The 3025's do and will mean you cannot use a strut brace that is not modified or goes around the back of the head..

There was not a standard bonnet on this one it was a carbon vented bonnet so the relative hight difference between the 2 i am not sure on compared to standard.

We have always used modified vented bonnets when doing conversions to help get rid of the heat especially with S13's doing RB conversions.

Using a Greddy copy or original plenum will solve all possible problems.

For $250 for a copy Greddy plenum you cant go wrong considering that is how much the cross member will probably cost.

if u are using the stock r32 bov on the r32 crossover pipe than the bov clears the s13 bonnet no problems (yes i know who keeps the stock bov)

I can assure you my Onevia's stock blow off valve used to touch. :)

RB20DET equipped.

Sorry to hijack here guys,

I have a laurel (C33) crossmember which I have heard is either the same or does the same as the A31 cefiro ones in terms of placing the motor in an S13. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, when mounting the RB25DET in an S13 my understanding is that I will need to use the engine mounts and engine mount brackets off of an RB20. Can anyone confirm this is correct as I am going to order some nismo mounts for R32 GTS-t soon. :w00t:

Thanks

So basically I would order a set of nismo mounts for R33 GTS-t if I was using the R33 engine mount brackets and I would order R32 GTS-t nismo mounts if I was using the R32 brackets?

Is there any height/placement difference between the two? I can swing either way so if one is better than the other then I would like to know :w00t:

Both mounts can be used.

To modify the engine brackets simply oval the pilot holes for the bolts that screw into the block so the sump sits closer to the sub frame.

Just keep in mind the lower it sits to the subframe the lower it sits to the ground.

    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
