hey guys,

I'm looking for the Top Secret gold paint code. I've done a search and looked in the paint sticky in the cosmetic section to no avail.

Looking at painting my GTC centers gold so if anyone can help me that'd be much appreciated.

Also, GTTR34 i see that your rims are already painted - do u or does anyone else know anyone in melbourne who can do it for me?

Thanks guys

Top Secret Paint - Though we get many requests for the "color code" for our trademark Top Secret Gold paint, no such code exists nor is it available from any paint or body shop. Our paint is our own custom color and blend made from only the finest materials. The paint is available through us for $465* per quart, pending the approval of the vehicle it is to be used on.

* USD, not AUD.

Doubtful you'll even get close to getting the real colour, maybe just try and match it close from photos.

hrmms.....well that answers alot of questions.

so all those gtc's that come out in gold (seen in mag adverts n such) - have they been painted by volk or are they just a custom colour?

u can buy gold gtc's.. but i believe they are bought $7000. I spoke to some one with an r34 gtr that had a set and he said he ordered brand new from top secret and thats what he had to pay.

I recommend just take a picture along to ur chosen paint shop and ask them to match as best as possible.. because it will be close enough dude.

Why not just get them painted in another shade of gold? Its not like you can say they're genuine "Top Secret" rims anyway. Why not just get a generic gold instead, and paint them with that?

To be honest, I don't see anything special about the Top Secret Gold colour. I'll be the first to admit that Top Secret LE37Ts are hot:

350z_tech_20070319_boltebridge_32.jpg

(and yes, they are genuine with Top Secret stickers on the spokes) but that gold isn't exactly some easily identifiable custom colour.

RAYS does offer a non Top Secret shade of gold for their rims, and my understanding is that you can get any of their wheels painted in any of their available colours as long as you pay extra for custom paint. Only the standard colours mentioned on the product page don't incur an extra charge.

If you compare the Volk Racing SF Challenge's gold:

350z_tech_20060409_kinglake_02.jpg

you'd be hard-pressed to pick a difference in the shade unless you had the two side-by-side. (I realise the Top Secret rims look a lot yellower, but there differing light in both images and the picture of the LE37Ts has been colour corrected in Photoshop whereas the SF Challenge pic hasn't.)

And if you were to order rims from RAYS in that shade of gold, it should only cost you the "custom paint charge" and not the "top secret paint charge".

the rims on the black 350 look hot. any idea what colour they are?

doesn't have to be top secret gold - i just thought that the paint code was readily available to paint from.

anyone have any paint codes for a nice shade of gold?

    • If you mean the alarm immobiliser; theyre internal to the alarm itself which makes that difficult; I couldnt even see where he put it; its not in the same place as last time; but with all black wiring it might be very challenging to trace  I had someone turn the key for me as I know it only primes for a couple of seconds As my post above; I am getting no voltage to the pump at all; but I am testing continuity of the power line (SB) from the pump plug to the relay fine. As well as the negative from the pump plug to a 12V constant.    Yeah; he blammed the no start on a bad battery; said I needed to get a new battery and it'll start. Turns out the battery drained because the tail lights had been on for half the day during the install (the rubber cushion on the brake switch gave out while he was testing it as I have a picture of the car from that morning with the tail lights off..i've replaced that). The battery was turning over the engine just fine for a long time; but got low since lights were draining it so it was too low to test a start after he finished. I bought a new one on his advice...$250 wasted. My original battery charged up just fine and is healthy.    It was running perfectly fine when I messed up the old alarm (programmed out the remotes). He couldnt start it after removing the old alarm; my assumption is that when he unhooked it; he didnt bridge the circuit back when trying to start it. Its always been perfectly fine. The ECU swap and pump were 2 years ago. It's never missed a beat in that time.
    • This is a big issue for me without the diff. I just have zero drive from the passenger side when drivers side has no traction. Bec's parents place has a crazy steep driveway with odd camber and I have never been able to get up. My bro-in-law's 130i with an (unknown brand) LSD gets up fine as does their dad's Hiace. My car stays at the bottom. We have other odd camber roads around here as we're elevated a bit and if it's raining I can get totally stuck around some hairpins.
    • Yeah, I am super excited for this.
    • Was the car running before he touched the car?
