Well not really my ass but my cars ass is gone. Here is some latest pics of my repairs.

Man this panel beater guy is one lazy mofo. He has had my car since January. the only reason he has done anything is because i called the insurance company to make him hurry up.

It looks like a workshop......not a panel beater.

Are you sure they think you need reverse globes...parkers, indicators and brake lights?

But don't know where they go...lol

Since January........I would fire him ...

Yeah its really starting to shit me. I was understanding at first cos he needed to get parts from japan and they actually had to manufacture some of the structural parts. That took few wks. but in the mean time he did f all. Could have been pulling other sh!t off.

His reputation is that he does a really good job but is very slow. But this is BS.

I think he drags my job out knowing that its a insurance job and he will definitely get paid at the end and just takes on other work and does that. He just lies to me that he is going to do stuff and does nothing. I think he can't help himself or something.

Also he closes early also to avoid seeing me and claims that he always closes round that time. sif. Well i should have done something sooner but i was just about to start a new job when the accident happened so i was concentrating on that. But cos i finshed at 4pm and he "closes" at 4pm it was hard to get there to see him. Had to leave early to catch him. caught him out a few times having done nothing when he preaches that he will have stuff done.

Then he starts with the "oh we had people away for a bit" crap and thats why its been a bit slow. Also mysteriously got a sore neck and back in the last few wks and was going to the doctors.

I mean how dodgy can you get. Well after calling the insurance company about it they started riding his ass and he finally worked on the car again. he tried to give a whole bunch of crap to them about why the job wasn't done yet and said that "we had people away for a bit". People away. There is only him and his apprentice working there. wtf.

He said to insurance that he would prob be finished next Friday. They are going to call and ask about progress then. At this stage i seriously doubt it. I might call them on tuesday or something i think and tell them the progress or lack of.

I was worried at first thinking that if i pushed him too much he might do a shit job to just get me outta his hair. I shouldn't have believed him at all from the start. But i am one of those people that trust the word of people. Hmm well i guess that you learn from experience.

:) I have forgotten what it was even like to have that car. Missed so many cruises. Also i only had my new sound system setup in my car for like a week before the accident happened.

Well thats my life story :(

i would be f**king spitting (at my insurance mob)

a mate at work got run into in his rx7 and with some minor work, it took over a month (through either justcars or shannons, i cant remmeber which)

i would go mental at that

we got cleand up in our skyline coming to work

dropped car off at suncorp tuesday morning

had it back friday arvo

new bumper, support gear behind bumper, rear respray

only minorish work, but being without your car, is a big hassle

Well yeah i am with just car.

I am very fortunate that i have two cars but its turning into a nightmare fast. My other car is a 1982 subaru 4wd POS and i spent bout $400 on it in the last few months in repairs and parts. And i have also spent hrs and hrs on it keeping it going. I had to replace the clutch and put another gear box in it. Since it was the only car i had at the moment i had only the wkend to do the work. It puts big pressure on me to get the job finished in a short time because if i dont i know that i will be walking to work.

I nearly got f'ed last wkend when i was at my dads joint, 5 hrs from home. Then fuel pump decided to shit itself and i got stuck in middle of round about having to push the car and people getting annoyed. But lucky for me that i had a spare pump for it in the shed at dads.

But at the moment i am really at the mercy of my subaru. if that stops i am buggered.

Dude, i feel for you. I'm stuck using my mum's old Pintara as I try to get my car fixed. My biggest fear is the car will shit itself somewhere busy, it hasn't been driven regularly for more than 2 year. Can't believe it happened to you.. I hope some decent person helped you.

The other day my mate's car broke down on 2 separate occassions so he bangs on the hazard lights, first time some retard taxi driver behind starts flashing and horning him, second time there were cops behind and they just horned him too.

Never even got out to help push it to the side. WTF

BTW: Anybody got a working phone number for Body Form at Prestons for someone named Peter?

ohhh man i feel your pain, two years ago some lady crashed into the back of my car, luckily it wasen't that bad i could still drive the car, only thing was it was all dented and stuff, it was in Feb 2005, it did not get fixed till July 2005, it was coz the lady did not pay her excess or something.

On the flip side i got a really sexy 1992 ford festiva to drive around for the week it took to actually get fixed :santa:

from the photo it *looks* like someone was drifting  probably not, but that's a better story.

anyway back on topic... does that look like rust in the first photo?

Yeah i was goin fully sic sideways till a tree jumped out and got me yo. :santa: Just came outta nowhere.

Yeah in the pic it is rust. Seems that a problem with the R33 is in the back section where the rear panel fits on to the sides and the boot floor pan. Nissan should have put a better layer of deadne on the underside of the car around the edges.

Seems to have gotten moisture around the overlap area where the spot welds are. I saw some rust from the inside of the boot but was unaware of how bad it really was.

But at that rate it would take yrs b4 you would really notice it. The panel guy said that he was going to clean it up and zinc coat it to prevent rusting again. So should be good for rest of its life. i found a few area attually that seem to be suseptable to rust on the car. Have a look where the water runs down the channels at the bottom of the front window under the top of the front guard. I have some surface stuff happening ther that i have to fix.

Also yeah i am gunna have to really get into this guy to do something on my car. He seems to have stopped working again. Might show his ass my nice boots with steel inserts. >_<

Seriously mate, get onto Just Cars and tell them you want to pull the car and take it somewhere else. Waiting for anything more than 1 month is not on. Tell Just Car you are being out of pocket with your car. I would be fuming!

Well visited panel guy today to give him some of my mind and looks like he has done a little more. he claims to have the car finished in a wk (pfft fat chance). I dont take what he says as real any more. well today they had the whole rear suspension and diff out of the car. Also they where taking the side skirts off the car. Prob only been working on the car for few hrs if that. but the whole rear suspension and diff goes to melb to be repaired and checked over by a place called KENCO i think. They are meant to measure and see what was bent in the accident and replace as needed. So might end up with replaced bushes and other parts which will be good. Insurance will be on his ass this friday neways. i will just ring them to check and force them to make him hurry.

Little hard now to take the car somewhere cos its missing two wheels.

See how the wk pans out.

I would be politely asking the insurance company to hurry your panel beater along quick smart before you involve ACA or Today tonight. Explain to them the situation, and if nothing eventuates at current repairer demand it be taken elsewhere or actually contact Today Tonight ( they love a good shonky story, especially if you fib and say you've lost your job) but i'm sure justcars will will get there act at the mention of involving media exposure.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well its now been 3 and a bit months without my liner. I am still having trouble getting my panel beater to finish the job. I contacted my insurance company and that seems to have made him move again on my car. lol I went there yesterday to see how its progressing. After the insurance company started calling him more regularly he has made a bit more of an effort (funny that).

Well he was not to happy to see me when i went there. Didn't say sh!t to me really. But I just figure that he has made it harder for himself so F*!k him.

If all goes well I could be cruising by the end of next week.

Dam you dont really know how much you like something untill you dont have it anymore. I am having with drawal symptoms LOL.

After all this rooting around I just hope it will look and be nearly as good as it was.

I will post up some lastest pics later tonite.

    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
    • When I said "wiring diagram", I meant the car's wiring diagram. You need to understand how and when 12V appears on certain wires/terminals, when 0V is allowed to appear on certain wires/terminals (which is the difference between supply side switching, and earth side switching), for the way that the car is supposed to work without the immobiliser. Then you start looking for those voltages in the appropriate places at the appropriate times (ie, relay terminals, ECU terminals, fuel pump terminals, at different ignition switch positions, and at times such as "immediately after switching to ON" and "say, 5-10s after switching to ON". You will find that you are not getting what you need when and where you need it, and because you understand what you need and when, from working through the wiring diagram, you can then likely work out why you're not getting it. And that will lead you to the mess that has been made of the associated wires around the immobiliser. But seriously, there is no way that we will be able to find or lead you to the fault from here. You will have to do it at the car, because it will be something f**ked up, and there are a near infinite number of ways for it to be f**ked up. The wiring diagram will give you wire colours and pin numbers and so you can do continuity testing and voltage/time probing and start to work out what is right and what is wrong. I can only close my eyes and imagine a rat's nest of wiring under the dash. You can actually see and touch it.
