im getting a 88 vette, but it will be n/a tune and stroke to 396. and if i got the extra cash it will have a BLOWER! (looking at around 400 to 500rwhp)

Acura (USA Honda), it is a type r engine but he is like a race type r engine or something like that? (im guess he ment it isnt the stock type R engine)

i have never heard of anything like that. in asia (where i come from) all they have are just type r engines, which are your regular b16 and b18. nuttin too spectacular. your vette will blow that away.

one example. i went up with my garage to sepang (KL track). it's garage r, in singapore. i was in one of their GTR34, approx. 750hp. let's just say the VTECs took forever to clear the back and front straights.

Take a look in the engine bay of CAS' MRDMG (spl?) - there's a good example of a 'race/drag' honda engine (a lot of the work done in the US too). 'Race engine' is such vague terminology - could just mean that the engine has been race prepped. Doesn't mean that it is a type 'x' engine.

from your description, sounds dodgy.

it sounded very dodgy to me and when i asked him how much he payed he gave me alook that it feel of the back of the truck so it could be spoon or just a mod up type_r thanks 4 your help.

INASNT: i will mostly buy a stock 88 and just do the mod myself and have them done pro i got the money so it doesnt matter me (14k for the car 10K or so for mods)

The most i've heard from road going n/a vtecs are abt 250-270 bhp, 2 liter block, 11000rpm redline...etc

But even if this is slightly optimistic, i would still think it'll have little chance against a vette....

It all depends...cos if you work hard at paring weight down, EG civics can be as light as 800 plus kilos, it might have a good chance down the straights then....

Dont forget as well i think the fastest all motor hondas in America run low 11s

Of cos if u introduce forced induction, then its a whole new ball game as well....

i think it might be a spoon or a b16a engine (the turbocharged type) I know HKS create a turbo kit that will mount onto most VTEC engines...

then again honda driver... he was probably talking out of his left arse cheek...

momentarily... after about 20 psi a turbocharger will exponentially increase to 30+ psi in theory and by the time you hit 30psi a turbocharger with equal flow efficiencies should in essence have hit (using formulas) around about... 63.38 psi... (yes I'm an engineering student)

unfortunately this dosen't translate to real world physics, and yes you will still beat the pants off him.

I think I spent waaay too much time tryin to fit a Vortech on my n/a...

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
