IT should be your oil light... correct if I'm wrong as the pi is quite small... it should show that there's something wrong with your engine's oil...

I'm pretty sure...

would get it checked out if it's always showing you this... if not this, might be your radiator light?

The oil light is red, the check engine light is orange.

yeah agreed.....

but if the oil light isn't on (and if it is you should;ve already kissed your engine goodbye) there will be another problem

as said... runa quick check on the ECU and all should be fine....

either that or take it to a mechanic....

yeh its on stock coil packs at 5700 km

but when its coil problem the traction control light and other come on aswell rite?

depends, mine is currently getting new coils as mine kept missing and dropping a cylinder. The only light that came on was the engine light so it could very well be ignition related. If your having similar symptoms to me its most probably your coilpacks.

I think it depends on how bad the faulty coil is. Mine started missing before the engine light went on and a guy on here by the name of alexr34 had no problems at all except his engine light went on. They both turned out to be the same problem. If in doubt take it to a mechanic that can do a diagnostic on it and it will tell you which error code is causing it to come on. Or if you like to do things yourself I think there is a thread on here showing you how to check the error codes for yourself. PM 666dan and he should be able to help you.

my guess! this is an engine check light with most cars they will come on momentarily after start-up, this is normal from new. If the light stays on it could mean the engine has reached 100,000 klm and now needs a major service ie timing belt or the like.

mines almost 60000km and the light gone out its been around a week now since its gone out

so for now not really worrying

until it comes back on again

Oxygen sensors......???

Faulty coil pack.......???

Faulty wiring or Spark plugs....?????

AFM's..(High knock levels)...................???

These can all send the light on.

Best is to read the codes....find the error and address the problem.

Cheers

knocking / pinging / pre-detonation. in the engine. generally happens under load because of bad fuel / bad tune, the engine will make a distictive rattle when loaded up under acceleration. If you hear this back off drive steady get it fixed.

means the fuel is igniting before the piston reaches the top and the spark hasn't fired.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
