Hi guys,

I've recently noticed that my Ciggie Lighter is not working as the metal coils inside are not electrically charging. I run my Tom Tom SatNav's charger from it and it is crucial for long road trips so can someone please tell me how to fix it or can any mechanic fix it quite easily and if so would this be expensive?

Basically it's just not eletronically charging, no power to plug-ins.

Your urgent help would be much appreciated as I'm going on a cruise very soon.

Regards,

when did it stop working? have you had any wiring work done on the car? Its more than likely just a fuse so check your fuses and see if any are blown. The cigarette power source is a very basic design so that will make it easy to figure out whats wrong. Its either the plug has come off, or the power isnt getting to the plug (blown fuse). If a mechanic charges you more than 20 bucks i'd slap him in the face...

perhaps hard wire the satnav in since you use it heaps? or say buy connectors and hardwire that into a curcuit, and then plug the satnav into that?

spose obvious question, but checked the fuse?

Guys, i know a fair bit about engines, turbos etc... but with electrics... fuse etc... i have no clue... can someome please give more details and/or pics...and i do not have the know-how to wire into hardwiring...

Mime blows the fuse all the time! Plug somthing in the wrong way and it dies. You have to open the fuse box down near the bonnet release there and pull out the fuses one by one till you find one where the loop of metal inside does not join anymore, replace it with another one of the same color and you are set.

From memory the fuse you are looking for is on the row of fuses on the right near the bottom so start bottom right and you should save yourself some time

Hey fellas,

Update: I checked the fuses... there are two lots 1st in the engine bay, 2nd are under the dash just underneath steering wheel... the fuses in the engine bay are for engine bay related things, horn, lights etc... but the one in the dash controls most of the interior stuff... the question is, which one controls the cigarette lighter?? Can someone please help, a pic or something? Thanks.

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
