lmao why are u Panzies against drifting???

'Wheezy' do u prefer to see a Skyline with a 3 speed trimatic racing in a straight line or a skyline crossed up on a track bouncing off

rev limiters?? :P

SECONDED! *pats his hicas enabled 33 and awaits a flaming* :P

ditto. I don't have a problem with HICAS on the street, it has been said that 8/10 driving is what HICAS is designed for and frankly if you go any harder than that on public roads you're a moron.

On the track, you might gain predictability by putting in a lock bar. You definitely will if the HICAS is getting old and not responding like it should.

Drifting, you definitely need a lock bar. HICAS is supposed to improve "regular" handling, and if you're in a drift it will fight you.

As for the flame war on drifting, you're all keyboard warriors. Yes, it's not the fastest way around the corner. Yes, it's like being a rally driver only your balls are tiny by comparison. Yes, it is great fun and you don't have to worry about a tree coming through your window.

:D

seriously though each to their own. drag racing does nothing for me but some people love it. doesn't mean I should bash drag racing.

Alternatively the best thing you could do in a jap car could be to use it for what it was designed for, transport.

All cars were designed to transport people some way or another :)

Even aussie cars were designed to. Whether they actually do in real life, as oppossed to just break down is another story. Bogan power =/ winnah

As Chubbs says - different horses...

I think drifting looks like a lot of fun but I have a GTR and for some reason Nissan designed it to go around corners with as little drift as possible. Could be that they thought drifting "the 'ring" wouldn't get them around in the fastest time (at the time) for a production car.

why do you guys thinking drifting is only for morons? its easy to keep control going fast around a corner, but to have the car ad rediculous angles and bringing it back to straight and holding top of 3rd sideways requires skill

They both require skill but they are different 'sports". Drifting is a "spectator sport" akin to figure skating on ice. It clearly requires skill to balance the car going around corners, keep the angle, etc. But in the end its about style not speed. Grip racing is like speed skating. You don't get points for style - just finishing first. You also have to do it with other cars (more than 1) on the track and unless you start in front you have to pass to win. Suggesting it is easy is a bit short sighted.

It means you have a faulty HICAS

Look I have no problem with people drifting, but i DO have a problem with EVERYONE drifting.

cos when EVERYONE drifts, that's when the commodore fans get into it and do it on the street, infact just this weekend i saw 2 commodores wrap themselves around telegraph poles trying to do it.

I also have a problem with drifters, not naming any names, you guys know who you are... you're all just so smug! like what you do is any better than anyone else? In my mind, you're a dumb retard that doesn't appreciate what a beautiful piece of machinery a japanese car is.

I worked really hard for the car that I own. with no loans from anyone, so maybe that haas taught me to treat it with respect for what it is?

a nice car. No panel damages. No scratches. Original paint. Pristine interior. Pristine engine.

So next time you go parading your self satisfied bullcrap. think before you type

I cry to myself if I see a mint car being flogged, but at the end of the day that's the owner's prerogative. I value my car in extremely good condition and enjoy driving it in such a state and that's all that matters. Each to their own - I don't see why some wanker with attitude should bother me in the slightest

While I had the HICAS in my car it was unstable a high speed (100km/h on highway), would wiggle around when coming over a crest, when cornering hard it would unpredictably snap into oversteer when I didn't want it to and generally just made the car feel less direct to drive.

maybe ur hicas was playing up?. Mine dont do that at all. although i do agree at high speed corners , especially long ones with bumps, u do notice it become unstable.

when cornering hard, RWD cars do snap out under throttle. hicas holds on the edge longer and u will carry more speed because of it. It's interesting you assume HICAS does this, its more the fact your corning hard in a RWD adding power.

alot of people i think blame hicas, when its their diff that is wearing out and causing some of these issues. the more u drift and do burnouts the more your LSD will not engage properly.

.. Just my theory.

Whatever a driver does in his/her car is up to them, you just hope they are aware of the risks and consequences and how REAL they are. Whether it be to their wallet, their car, their life, other peoples lives, other peoples property and all the inconviences of when things 'go wrong' then let them be. Everyone has an opinion on what they prefer.

yeah, One thing i Think we can all agree on, is that all HICAS. Particularly earlier versions. suck. and cause us all greif whether we're drifters draggers drivers racers or whatever.

I dont agree .. I actually like hicas. Hicas is my friend

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
