does the definition of reckless driving change if you are in a built up area?

In SA, it made a difference...

BTW Bloodlust, definition of reckless:

foolhardy: marked by defiant disregard for danger or consequences

your comment was kinda stupid...

Hope it works out for you anyway, at least you have learnt your lesson. Its so much easier (and cheaper) and safer to just take your car down to a track if you want to thrash flat out.

Pretty sure AHG still do weekly open to all thrash sessions for as little as $40, you have a safe place to cut sick - its very worthwhile if you want to test your car out. Or, if you want to hit WASCC, its still alot cheaper than copping a decent fine - good fun.

  • 4 weeks later...

i got done for wreckless driving and the cops just said ill get a summons for court in a few weeks. about 3 months went past and finaly got the summons. i went to court pleaded guilty and got 6 months loss of licence $600 fine and court costs were $68, and that was for first offence too. they were going to arrest me and have my car towed but let me drive home because of all my stereo gear in the boot, he didnt want the car to get smashed up or broken into (i have a VT wagon too) he said go home and think about what you've done. i was p***ed off but had only myself to blame and have luckily learnt my lesson before someone got hurt

That is exactly right!

I believe the same thing!

I got pulled over on Berregan st/rd for doing a U-Turn at a set of traffic lights... Well she pulled me over and I was thinking "oh shit, I've lost my license", which is unfortunately, my natural reaction to the red & blue now... Anyway, she asked for my license and said to me "Why were you doing a U-Turn at a 'round about", I said I'd not been driving for six months, and that I'd just come back into the city from the bush, and that I saw no 'no U-Turn' signage... Anyway, after that she stated "Your very nervous considering this is a routine traffic stop", I admitted I had a previous record of dangerous driving and that I was just trying to drive carefully (ie: NOT fanging my Skyline) and just trying to do the right thing without being a dickhead. So she asked me under what circumstances I was charged, I replied that in that situation, I was being young, stupid, naive and irresponsible and if I could, I'd like to leave it there because it is something I'm not particularly proud of.. Anyway she made me blow into the bag and I blew 00.00, considering I don't drink and drive full stop, that was good. However, she followed by saying "see, it's ok, you blew zero zero, your doing the right thing and you've learned your lesson, just be careful with those little things". "Remember, the roadies (Highway Patrol I'm guessing), would've fined you on the spot, it is $150 and 3 demerits... Still, you were up front and honest, you DID do it on a green arrow, which was a bit better, but I've seen accidents here boy, just go up a few hundred meters next time and do a yooie in a safer spot.... Drive Safe!".... Still, I got a caution though... I was genuine though, I just need to Not make such thoughtless mistakes...

On that note, green arrow... Plus No "no U-turn sign", it is still illegal?

I must say, I'm not so much relieved I got off the fine... I'm more pleased that now, I don't think of cops being totally untrusted and emotionally detached knuckle draggers.... I'm very surprised.... No joke, I've been, and still am bloody petrified of driving around these days.... I'm still astounded.... I just need to think, and instead of being so darn cautious about not ding anything wrong with the car per se, but having a greater awareness around me...

I've had a few close ones.. but it's ur attitude u have wif the cop when u talk to them.. if they like u then they will go easy on u.. even if they seem harsh @ the start... it will b just a front to scare u out.. if u were doing something reckless. Several times i've been booked for spinning my wheels and gettin stuck on island from a driftin accident hahaha...

I had a close.. one n it was in the wet, i was @ the lights n a Wrx was next 2 me, he wanted 2 have a go @ me but i let him go then i turned off then a car was still behind me following, was a bit suspicious.. n couldn't c properly cuz it was nite, anywayz i let him pass n it overtakes, i look then Wham Bam a Cop Car.

Was followin me the whole time n i didn't realize it... Dodgey Ass..

I just shat myself n thought i was pretty lucky.. if they pulled me over.. could of got me for yellow n stuff under the bonnet that's illegal.. n did i mention my scanner.. in the car..

heres one for you i got pulled over for doing 140km in a 70km zone by a cop in a unmarked station wagon on gilmore avenue kwinana. he took my details and said i would receive the fine in the mail, but when i got it he put 96km in a 70km zone. when i told him it was b***shit he said that my car could do it, what sort of shit is that just because i drive a skyline they can make up this type of shit. well it worked out because im still cruising.

some people on here really need to dry their eyes and harden the f**k up

you know if you are doing the wrong thing

if you get caught, you probably have done it more than once

time to start taking responsibility for your actions kiddies - and grow up - and ffs, stop whining like a spoilt 5 year old

Great to see you picked up the police car behind you with the scanner, seeing as how they would have been transmitting some sort of voice at some stage.

    • Stock R33 boost control, with the exhaust, and FMIC done, will boost creep. There is no tuning around it if it is the factory boost solenoid.   If it has an aftermarket electronic boost controller, the settings/mapping can be altered in it.   Oil could be anything as mentioned, however did it ever do it before you did the turbo swap? How much and how often did you drive the car before the swap?   I'm hinging on too much oil supply, or it's not draining properly.   To check, pull the air outlet off the turbo. Is it full of oil? Drop the exhaust at the turbo, does it appears to be oiled/coked? Now pull turbo and check the exhaust manifold, does it appears oiled and coked the same way?   Secondly, the PCV could even be stuffed / not functioning properly and will cause blowing of blue smoke.
    • Almost any ECU would work, from a 30 yr old PowerFC to a new Motec/Autronic. But presumably you want new middle of the road ECU, meaning that you want a Haltech or a Link, most likely. As to which model though? I dunno. I don't keep track of what they have in their current ranges. You don't want a plug in though, because plug ins can start to cause you the same wiring issues that you have to chase up with your stock ECU/loom swaps when an engine transplant is involved. If you use a Haltech (and presumably a Link) you could put the base map for the engine in and drive it around and not even need to "tune" it. It will work just fine. I can't recommend a tuner without a location (and even then I can't recommend many, being as I never use any tuners except myself and my brother-in-law). And not many tuners are happy to remote tune. Maybe they'd be happier doing it for a basically stock setup that just needs to be demonstrated to be working properly. But even then, not being able to be with the car to see what the hell is going on and sort out the inevitable problems that will result from an engine conversion done by an amateur..... unlikely to be enthusiastic about the job. And if you think that just adding 2 wires for the boost sensor is difficult - you don't want to be trying to install and set up an aftermarket ECU. You're going to have to bite down hard on something with either approach.
