Drove through the tunnel last and didnt see anything suss, but as i came out and was driving down orong rd i saw something bloody sneaky. The cops were parked up on one of the overhead bridges. The cop in the passenger seat was leaning out of his window with a handheld! Soon as i saw him i realised i was doin 8-10 over. I was wondering what there plan is when they do see someone speeding from up there though? do they have a recording device on the hand helds? Or were they waiting for someone who was speeding a lot and then the would fly down the ramp after them?

Slight Hi-Jack!

If you are heading north on GF-FWY in line with the Burswood Golf Course I see the Blue Poison sitting high and dandy on his motorcycle clipping people then chasing them down towards the tunnel. Now in the hand book for the Silver Eagle Hand Held Laser Speed Recording Device - It states that the device must be used on a horizontal plane and not up / down hills, across oppisite lanes of traffic, or to be used in rain or fog like conditions. Mate got done in NSW on his Crotch Rocket, He fought the law and won. Bought the manual from the U.S of A and challenged the copper. NSW Police paid fee's and court costs.

Standard issue laser for WA is the Ultralyte LTI2020... not that it would operate on different principals... laser is laser... just wanted to jack the thread too!!!

They have been doing the "over bridge" trick since the poly opened.. I have heard of them doing it on the Kwinnana Fwy too... bastards!

The reason there is no speed cameras in the tunnel is because the stuff that the walls is made of is to reflective so photos would just come back as a white screen. So you can do whatever speed you want...

I once had a 180 overtake me in the emergency lane.

My brother lost his license like that. I used to work at Burswood for 3 1/2 years & I seen them on top of that bridge a few times, during all different times of the day. Used to get stared at all the time at 4 in the morning as I drove past them. Occasionally just a car, sometimes 2 bikes, sometimes both with two on the bridge with radar guns for both directions & the bikes waiting on the down ramps.

I thought the hand helds had to be used in a specifc way to get an accurate reading. Not just point and press. Same with multinovas, very picky as to how they are meant to be set up.

Cheeky f**ks.

Multanova's need to be setup on a certain angle otherwise there speed reading is thrown way out (google radar cosine error for more info). Not sure if Lidar is affected by it as well, at least not to the same extent. Cosine error makes the camera read less, not more . Sweep error (e.g panning from one headlight to the other) when using a lidar gun will add to your speed, which is why trees can be caught speeding.

Back onto the subject at hand ... The tunnel...

From Main Roads Bulletin web page :

"TUNNEL TEMPORARY CLOSURE - Northbridge (Graham Farmer Freeway) Tunnel closure

The Northbridge Tunnel will be closed during off-peak times to enable an upgrade of tunnel management and traffic control systems. The planned upgrade is required to keep up with advances in technology and minimise any future problems and possible tunnel closures due to system breakdowns. This is in line with the aim to keep Perth's Northbridge Tunnel one of the safest in the world. The upgrade will require the periodic closure of both the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the tunnel to install and test the new computer systems and associated software."

But as yet, there are NO cameras in the tunnel that are specifically used for speed detection.

My god, how you all speculate on a topic you obviously know not much about! (Not that I do either) You're all clutching at straws!

Reflectivity/Angles/drag-coefficients/flux capacitors.

What a silly silly thread to begin with!

The reflective thing is not my opinion... It is the facts

    • Today, I'm a Breville BES920 tech, new triac board and new 3x way solenoid. Had overheating issues, home RCD tripping when it got warm, and the boiler stayed on when the machine was shut off. Also, usually 3x way solenoid chatter, this is the 3rd time I'm replacing it. Mind you, this machine is 9 year old and send it every day doing at minimum 3x double shots. When the in laws come over to took after my daughter, it will easily see 6x double shots in a single day. Tried to be somewhat compliant, crimped and then used a screw connector over the top. Would have preferred to use heat shrinks.   After all that, turns out all the overheating has damaged the o-rings to the steam tap as well. Ordered new ones, coming soon.
    • Still got it- First time checking sau in a while ahhaha
    • I don't know about that. I can hoon my R32 around - hard launches, high lateral Gs - with <<1/4 tank without any such shenanigans. This with the previous 040 and the current GSS342. I would suspect a fuel line problem. One of the hoses associated with the top of the tank perhaps.
    • This is amazing. Love that you’re giving the boys an intro to cars and off the screens. They probably have an insta for the car and build posts on TikTok for their mates.
    • It is.  Your car works fine with the tank full. If you drive like a Nana it works fine.  You give it a boot full with half a fuel tank, you get surge.  It 100% is a fuel surge issue. Maybe have a look at installing a Hydramat if you don't want to install a surge tank.  https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/
