vic roads and on the odd occasion have light measurement detectors, i have seen em yet but iv heard bout it alot.

serious? wow thats a first ive head of it, fair enough...........

but thats vic roads? wat about the po po?

Its not up to the poilce to prove on the spot that it is 100% illegal, they dont have to.

They only to have to a "reasonable beleif" that the modification is not safe to issue a defect.

it is then up to the owner to proove the modification ( inc tint) is legal.

Commonly people who have tinted windows do get the darkest legal tint but it is on top of the factory tint or glaze and this makes the light transferance illegal.

if you want to check it your self, Repco sell a light transferance metre which is used to measure the amount of light that comes througha tinted window or glass based surface.

spot on, cops can deem something unsafe whether its legal or not ... if they beleive its unsafe, canary u for it, its your responsibility to get a rwc which should prove your car is legal, or indeed have to fix up a few things on the car itself.

i have heard that you can tint the qtr windows and rear windows darker and get away with it ... as long as the front two windows are 35% or greater ... but once again, depends on the descretion of the officer.

my old skyline was HELL dark ... my vlt was well below legal on every window, 5 - 7% i beleive ... difficult at night if there was no light around hehe ... looks great though...

anyone know about about this darker but legal tint??

my rear quarters say 'UV Cut glass' so i don't know if the glass itself is dark, or if there is a tint on it??

That glass is darkened from factory (ie it's not tint) and is street legal (ADR approved).

As for the regulations in Vic, not hard to find...

Just for those who asked how to remove tint yourselves, you need:

- Hairdryer with extension cable to reach wall socket

- Razor blade (standard emo issue, come in little packets of 10)

Simply use the hairdryer to heat up the film from the inside of the car, then use razor blade to scrape away. Very easy, most of it peels off no problems, doing each window should take less than 10 mins.

Have fun!

Didnt you read the first page?

Some insurance companies also check the percentage when the assessor comes out, usually first thing they check if they're interested in it.. and if it's too dark, and therefore unRW, they can argue that your car was unRW and they won't pay out a claim.

Depends on the company though, some companies will do anything to get out of paying a claim.

    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
    • Probably. I take it that they are also mentioned to be for R34 Skyline? For example.... RDA has that part as RDA7957. I have the dimpled and slotted version of that on my car https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285518478694?srsltid=AfmBOopKxMuAFpsxZJdB1cam4D5RAj1f9yJyOttPZLAwXVNCOiwlhrIy This is DBA's top one piece equivalent https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364246686631?srsltid=AfmBOorbb0XHQgqTvZLgQPhg70nqJtGvdojKnugum3O2LFSr2h-obp8D
