yep, answering to your reply. To be honest, apart from remembering the hood pins which keeps the hoods in position either on the top side or bottom side, I cant really remember any particular hinges.

The ones that came thru me had reinforced hinges with a couple more layers of CF and also all round sides the edges.

For some good stuff look at www.customcarbon.com.au .. They do full Carbon Fibre bonnets and other stuff and they are actually pretty cheap. The stuff looks scary though.. thin as.. but strong I guess.

Tell Jason you heard about them through Rick form Yeppoon and I'm sure he'll give you the best price possible.

Is there a point in putting carbon fibre bonnets on gt-r's?. the stock bonets are already very light. I would understand putting a c/f bonnet on a gts-t cuz the bonnets weigh a shitload. just a thought.

cops - Dont think they give a shit about what you will explain. The moment they set their eyes on your car and stop you, they will try every single dumbest reason to defect you.

The whole rationale is, they are cops!!!

hahahaaa

You seem like a really smart guy. Please dazzle us all with some more of your wisdom...

Do I need to be a smarty farty ass to make such comments? I hope not though. Some officers are nice, well in reality, down in Perth, some are not!

If ya one, good for you then, but I think I do reserve the rights to make comments of my personal views. Especially when 1 of my mates got booked just because his elbow is slightly out of the door window when he's driving or another one being booked for the dumbest reason I could ever think of ... having her school parking decal not under the same side of her rego but on the driver's side! Tried explaining, the more they try to haul you in for the slightest defect such as tire thread limits and faulty third brake lights when the other two main brake lights are still working good!

Instead of catching people doing burnouts in the middle of the nights or going after drunken stupor group of youths trying to pick up fights after getting wasted in clubs, nope, they just wanna spend their time going after a girl driving a small little Starlet!?!??

Funny logic how the good "system" is flourishing ... ...

On the Evo I once considered a CF bonnet, only to find it was less than 3kg lighter compared to my already factory delivered aluminium bonnet. Like the GT-R I wouldn't bother.

If I take out my carpets or jack...whatever, I would save more than 3kg, so there isn't much point. Plus the money you spend on these bonnets, would be much better used towards performance mods which would negate 3kg anyway.

IMO CF and wet CF over fibre glass bonnets are ghey on a street car...unless your a really hardcore circuit/drag racer. It's not going to make much of a difference in performance other then impress your mates. Also if you have ever seen it, fibre glass bonnets will flex anywhere from 0.5-1+ inches at high speeds. Thus why bonnet pins are used to help provide additional fixing points to prevent the bonnet from balooning and also secure the bonnet from suddenly opening up on you when your doing a 1/4mile...the factory bonnet lock is going to do jack with winds picking up the edges. So you install bonnet pins, but hang on bonnet pins are illegal!

Stick with your factory bonnet, paint it black if you wish or an aluminium bonnet...at least it crumples properly in an accident.

don't eat junk food for 3 weeks, lose 3kg.. simple really. Its not worth bothering about from a weight perspective at all like EVO is saying.

My toolbox weighs 12kg for a start.. spare about 12kg.. etc..

but still.. I need a new bonnet.. buying a genuine one or finding one from a wreckers maybe $300.. painting maybe another $300.. total cost: $600.. carbon fibre / fibreglass one $900 or so.. may as well spend the extra for the wank factor.. they do look cool with the vents..

honestly, the cf/fg ones are really not worth that much money.

$900?? i'm not sure about it. Maybe ya better off browsing around to see if there's any better deal elsewhere ... Cause for $900, you can get a Honda OEM bonnet which is wet type full 3k cf with frp frame ... maybe those overseas retailers are worth a look ...

Abit of side track, there's even those with transparent type ones called ABS Transparent. For those car shows though ...

just my .5cts worth.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
