Heathcote 1/6/2003 :P

the prob isn't really the shift point (for me anyway) - changing at 6,500 isn't too difficult.. its just the first few metres.. when u can't tell whether ur tyres are really just spinning - if u lose a second on takeoff then thats teh difference between say a 14 and 13s time or 15 and 14s time

yeah traction was a real prob......had 3 runs first launchin at 3k....bogged bad, 2nd launch at 2.5k still bogged, 3rd launch at 2k was the best i could do but buggered it up by stickin it in 5th instead of 3rd, im sure it would have been a good time too. most of the skyline peeps had traction probs when throwing it into 2nd with the back kickin out...ask dj lethal:D

is your car the only car in your family??

or do u just drive it on your p's and try to avoid the police? heh

Nah its not the only car in the family. actually i cant drive it anymore, coz i got pulled over and have a warning under my name. Apparently if im caught driving again 2 year loss of my license. So i dont drive it out on the streets anymore, just at events like this to get my fun out of it... My car, but cant drive it. ITs so tempting while its in the garage to take it out, but i gotta hold my self..They got there eye on me the :shake:

yep i got 13.08,  didnt do well as i did at Calder. It was either the clutch or the track, i think my clutch was slipping..not quite sure though gotta get it checked. had great fun, would love to do it again some other time as bunch again.

i was watching you,i thought ur clutch was slipping.

13.08 im assuming its pretty stock.huh.

i was hopin to have my 34 at the track today, but dyno gremlins struck yesterday arvo.

Congrats on the times guys its not as easy as everyone thinks last yr when i went i thought id crack it into the 14's easy walked away wit a 15.4@90mph this yr after some practice i managed a 14.6@93mph last week

Not bad considerin all i got is, 3" exhaust (excludin dump pipe), pod filter and 8psi, oh and did i mention its AUTO !

yup, thats not a bad time there yogi for fairly stock..

sometimes when u up the boost/power tho it just gets more difficult in a skyline as traction becomes hard. I still don't quite know how those guys manage to get mid to high 12's in cars with the same mods as mine - i don't think i am *that* bad a driver ;)

I mean the track can make a big difference.. i mean just today was a prime example .. not many of the SAU cars with the one or two mods got below 14 - and i think a lot of it was due to track conditions.

Mr_fanny you only done it once I done it bloody three times I thought there was something wrong with my car and when I relised what I was doing I pissed myself laughing all the way back to the line up area. I am putting this one down to a bad experiance, if I do those times next time I am taking myself out the back and shooting myself

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
