probably been covered, but fresh were talking about it the other night, they were saying some bloke is trying to bring in yearly inspections like in other states.

Was listening to Fresh the other night aswell... apparently statistics says unroadworthy cars make up only a small percentage of all accidents.

IF your car is modified and you are worried of getting defected you can get an engineers report that says it is safe and meets nec standards (after a few tests that support this, eg brake tests if extra kws etc). Price of report dep on how many mods it has...

and ive only ever once seen a cop say; "oh, its engineered and legal, youve done the right thing, i do apologise." and drive off, most dont give a shit, they'll still just defect you, hell, ive even seen regency inspectors shrug off an engineers report.

ive been behind some absolute shite boxes of cars at the lights, and when its time to go green, ive gotten a huge cloud of black shit thrown at me, plus the car goes soooooooo slow to get up to speed,then not do the speed. isnt that some sort of hazard in itself cause the car is going way too slow?

last night i went past a coppa, made a little noise, and she just looked and me...and kept looking at me but did nothing. what the f#$%!!!!!!!! ive had the car for 9 months this month and still havent been pulled over!!!!! isnt cause im a chick or something? :action-smiley-069:

they are the cars that should be taken off the road straight away, no going over regency etc.

and then it returns to money.

the people who own said shit boxes, either cant afford to maintain them, or are simply too lazy too.

(i maintain my shitbox as best i can, but its still a shitbox and i really cant be arsed spending 6x its value to make it 'roadworthy')

however, its assumed the people who own performance cars can afford to maintain them, which 9 out of 10 can and do, and therefore can pay for inspections and the like.

yeah it does come down to money. it shouldnt be assumed that because people who own perfromance cars can afford to maintain them. i can just afford it all, but i would rather make sure my car is on time with services and is well maintained and have no money than have a car that is not running right and more liking to breakdown on me and end up costing more $$$$$,

i guess you need to justify whether it would be worth spending 6x to make your car "roadworthy" personally i wouldnt be bothered cause i would rather sell it, and buy another car that is road worthy!! lol!!!!!!!

lol, its not worth it. ive already spent 4x its value just getting a few things in the front end fixed.

needed to be done though, unfortunately i cant get enough for it to get a new car, so money needs to be spent.

im looking at getting a small loan to cover the difference to get a roadworthy car, but it isnt looking good so far...

From what I understand the hooning also covers a disturbance of peace - loud stereo's, tyre smoke, wheely tyre noise etc..

The chances of being defected are much less with one. Its better to reduce your chance of being defected is it not?

Whenever I have been through regency with one, they acknowledge it (Admittedly Ive only been there 3 times with 3 different cars but thats 100% success rate for me). Some of the mods were as minor as wheels and as major as engine upgrades from n/a to turbo charged.

Same with defect stations. Its worth the money.

Those living in "JAPAN" have the rules set out above i wrote to stop the streets having an older population of cars on the road to ensure a) cars are aways roadworthy, b) cars will always meet near new emission stds set.

Those who complain about old shit boxes is probably why Japan brought in their system. Roadworthy inspections for the cars, as well as increasing rego costs the older the car gets. It makes sure its not worth while having an old car on the road.

now listen, if all we had here were holdens and fords, we would have the same system as japan to make sure that the cars on our roads were all fairly up to date and people wouldnt be banging around in their 1984 holden astra hatch back.

but since we import cars from all over the place being on a big island and all with alot of wealthy people and demand for diversity despite not having the great population like alot of other nations out there, we drive all sorts of cars from all over the world.

why do you have to be careful about an exhaust leak that is inside a pipe? stop whoring the thread.

Um your car sounds like half the exhaust has fallen off due to your split pipe not being sealed properly at your turbo so you have a leak all the time...and let me see dumb ass my 2-3posts in this thread to your 5-10...think bout it

not being sealed properly? all split dump pipes are made exactly like mine, they all have a degree of leakage i just chose not to use a gasket when i fitted my screamer. that is the difference.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.  
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋 
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
