And got a cannon!!

lol.. My muffler at the moment sounds like a POS.. It sounds way too raspy.. Plus this was 20% off and with a 2.25 inlet ( which I could not find anywhere), it matched my system atm perfectly har har.

Hopefully it doesn't end up sounding like a POS though, I'm a little worried about the length of the tip, seems shorter to most cars I've seen lately.. Not sure how that will impact?.. And hopefully not too much if any back pressure is lost, s It's still 2.25 so fingers are crossed.. Will post a vid when it goes on some time next week.

EDIT: Vids are up now.. 1st, begins with early stages of the car, and the last vid is of th car now..

First video is when the car had only the exhaust.

Second Video is after extractors + Pod with the same exhaust.

Third video is with the new cannon lol

ure car didnt sound to bad on the last cruise we went on, i wana see a vid of this hope it sounds gud. i changed my catback yet again

It sounded too raspy mang. Atleast from my perspective.. I've never been behind it so I suppose I don't really know for sure lol.. But still I want to see what it sounds like with this eh..

Revving in neutral doesn't really show much, really gotta do a drive by as its always going to sound different under load. Personally I've never really heard any NA rb's that sound nice, most have a horrible rasp to them.

I shall get on the drive by asap

Generally the N/A's only get a nasty rasp when they rus stainless rear mufflers without suitable mufflers further up the sytem. Mine runs all mild steel and standard bore diameter and sounds like this.

Ignuz, yours doesn't sound too bad at all for running a cannon. Good work.

I resisted the urge to go cannon and went for a twin outlet (squared tips) Zetti exhaust when I did the upgrade about 18 months ago. I also went the Coby Extractor route, and upgraded to stainless hi-flow cat while I was at it. I even sent the extractors & exhaust to Brissy to be HPC coated just for good measure... Now it all sounds VERY loud, particularly inside for passengers. I'm putting the noise factor down to the extractors more than the exhaust, but either way it's damn loud!

From what I've heard and experienced, the raspy noise never seems to leave N/As... you can only make the exhaust louder to drown out the annoying rasp when accelerating. Believe me I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of it with my car.

i put a 4inch shitbox autobarn cannon on my old NA auto r33, jesus christ it was loud

resonating so hard inside the cabin and shaking the earwax from my ears while doing 40kph up a hill.so many headaches, i got out of the car 3/4 def

never again will i make that mistake. as for power gains well seeing it was on an NA it raped my low torque and didnt notice a difference apart from drinking more fuel.

Lol mine doesn't seem to drone, it more or less is just pretty loud when you go over 3k RPM.

Only vid of a drive by I have at the moment..

1. No I don't have a fake BoV

2. No I don't know what that psssssttt sound is in the vid from the car

3. Just saying this because a few people have asked already.

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
