Im just looking around at buying a Stagea. What are my options with models and things? Should i buy something already modified or get a stocko then modify myself. What sort of power can the driveline handle??

I know the 260rs is the GTR version would it be cheaper to replace the 2.5 with a 2.6 after purchase?

How much power are people making with there wagons??

What is the weight difference over a R33 gtst??

Any info would be appreciated

Cheers,

Rob

Replacing the RB25DET with an RB26DETT isn't as simple as replacing the engine, you need to go deeper, replacing suspension, driveline and electrics. If you want the GTR power, get the Autech version, otherwise stick to the standard RB25DET version.

We went down the Rb25 to Rb26 route, and I could have bought a 260RS for the cost of the conversion. To be fair, we had ours modified at the same time, but in hindsight it would have been enourmously cheaper to have bout a 260RS in the first place.... I'm still trying to source a manual guage cluster and centre console.....

Cheers for your info.

Also, how hard and at what cost to change to a R34GTR front end? Will this fit on any model stagea?

I will have a look for this modified one

What diff ratio do they have??

RS4S is a series 2 stagea.

so more or less late 98 onwards.

J-Spec, Prestige etc are worth talking to.

EGA4IT spent forever trying to sell his one locally (finally did), they appear from time to time at auction in japan.

the R34 PowerFC will run these with very little modification.

    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
    • Sorry I meant that we are building the EH for a client.

    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
