Well guys the day just came and went yesterday and before i knew it the line was gone from my house, down to rocklea it went to begin the trasformation, the tow guy was early which is good and the whole process started at 9:15, god it was good to see the car out again, i drove behind he tow truck to the garage and the look on divers faces as they watched the "line" on the back of the tow truck! I so glad the process has begun, i am like Noel i don't have the gift of patients however the car has been off the road for 2 months so i think i've held together alright don't we think? Nice nice, how long is the whole transplant process going to take?

Well guys today is the 4th october, my friend from uni john, has been hasteling me to get down to the garage and have a look. We unexpectivly showed up today and found my car out the font. As the boys @ Kaizen were working away hard, i just took these few snaps just to see what had been happening. Not really sure of the detail of the progress, he mentioned that the rotors have been machined. this was good to hear as i thought we were not going ahead with the brake conversion. so i am happy about that! Sorry about the picture quality in this post and through out the thread they are all off my 2 megapixel mobile camera. Anyhow let me know what u guys think. Hame

ignuz, yeaha it just an rb25det conversion, already have large exaust system etc, as said in previous posts i have a FMIC with alloy piping to go on, i just bought a Greddy B.O.V, and a few other things but nothing major to the engine as far as internals go, after the conversion is done i wont have any cash left for spending, but yeaha i am pumped to see it started at least considering i havnt driven the car since the 30th of june! so yeaha i hope ot have it all done soon. Anthony has bought a new water pump for it.

Cheers, hame

Well spoke to a friend of the garage last night, and he informed my that the engine was put in over the weekend, dump had been welded to my existing exaust system (3") with large resinator and yeaha that's all i heard but just though i'd share it with u guys, just the wiring to go hopefully..! :P

nice... hopefully the loom won't be too much of a headache.

Yeaha hope it not too much of a headache, i am going to see the car over the weekend, so will be posting pics up as soon as i get them. cheerz, hame

YEaha i know what you mean it would be great to do all the work my self but my garage is a SLUG (single) and there is no room for engine cranes or anything like that. Anyhow went and got a prgress report, he is having trouble with the brakes he said but the engine was in, gearbox was in etc took a few snaps for people's viewing pleasure.

He said cut was from a series two so there was a bit of fiddleing around with engine mounts and loom etc but all is good now.

You can see where the cut marks are set for the FMIC, the front bar i don't think is going to be modified.

Let me know what you think, any questions i should ask etc.

He said it wont be long now till she is all complete! i cant wait having driven her since 30th june!

Kind Regards, Hame ;)

Good to hear that its coming along dude.

I might of missed it, but did you post up how much the process is costing (like the half-cut and transformation?)

Sorry if im blind.

So far cut has cost me 4k, labor i am fixing up when job completed. (approximatly 2k)

Lookin the goods mate!

In terms of diff.. I dont think there should be much of a diff.

Someone correct me if im wrong. Dont GTS's have an VLSD? Or open diff?.. Not sure.

I figure, either way.. you should leave it in there.. and if you going to upgrade.. dont bother with a GTR or GTST, just save and get a 1.5 LSD

yeaha i was hold they just had a LSD, what is a VLSD? so it shouldn be too weak for the series 2 rb25det, yeaha she is coming along which is great to hear, hoping to have her back in a week! So let's get some cruizes together!!!

LADIES AND GENTLEMENT! TODAY IS THE DAY! :P:) I AM GOING TO PICK UP THE R33 gts WITH RB25DET CONVERSION, I HOPE ALL HAS WORKED OUT WELL, I GOT THE CALL LAST NIGHT ON THE WAY TO WORK TELLING ME IT'D BE READY TODAY. SO I SHOULD BE GETTING A FEW PICTURES FOR YOU GUYS. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE BRAKES SHOULD BE DONE, FULL ENGINE TRANSFER FMIC INSTALLATION WITH ALLOY PIPING.

CAR HAS NOT BE TUNED (does anyone think it should be)

CAR NEEDS A CLEAN UP (which i will be doing today)

IS THERE ANY QUESTIONS YOU ALL RECOMMEND I ASK?

YAY! hame!

YAY! hame!

nice work.

if you're running stock with the stock DET ecu, it should be fine.

ask:

- has the motor been serviced?

- anything freshened up?

- anything that might need a bit of attention?

- general wear and tear items, clutch, etc.

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
