limited spots for autosalon if you opened it up to everyone how do you pick and choose who comes and who does not?

Do you get everyone to meet in a car park on a specific day and put it to a vote of the cars that turn up?

At least that would be more democratic that what is happening at the moment.

Puresx: it does seem very Russian doesn't it.

The parking lot would deff be a better idea then just saying.. " This is who is going to rep us"

I have organised SAU stuff for a display Salon wanted organised at Mallala last year. Just asked people to PM me details of cars etc if they were interested and pics too if they had them and then picked the cars from there. Worked very well no complaints at all.

Once again, I say to my point, only ask to be involved if you believe your car is 100 percent ready. I dont think anyone, even if they were ASKED by pk or flick to come in their right mind should not accept unless they were happy with their car themselves. It wouldnt be very proper would it?

Maybe Im not as fussed because my car is no AS material, but I honestly think what's done is done.

From all accounts, last year there were lots said "yes Im in" and pulled out.

This year, someone tried to organise those who seemed most keen last year, everyone gets the shits.

Solution: Suck it up, stop your complaints. Some people made a choice, they have realised they haven't pleased everyone, and perhaps it hasn't worked for the best. So for next year, make a thread early and try again to involve more.

Done and Done, no more bickering

and on the point of organising things early,

i would like to do a SAU display for Gazzanats (in October ) and SCS (In November) im in the process of finding out some more info about SCS

let me know if your interested

Hey guys.. ok firstly i didnt 'pick' anyone, i dont know people or their cars well enough. Pk chose, and i think he done a great job - have all sorts of colour, models, mods etc.

I volunteered to help with other aspects, such as lighting, flooring and i guess a bit of the co-ordination of it, which is something ive been enjoying. Please dont bicker..

just leave it be folks.

its all been organised, you may not have known about it, and i can see how that wouldve pissed people off, but given what happened last year, it was a lot easier on pk and flick (and the club in general really) organising it this way.

instead of having 20 or 30 or however many poeple putting their hands up and saying "IM IN! IM IN!" and only having 2 or 3 people actually rock up, they now have 11 definites for this years show.

maybe voice your interest in participating in next years AS after this show, and get it all paid for and ready to go in the next couple months, thatll save the shit fighting closer to the dates.

well done to pk, flick, and whoever else had their hand in this.

heh, gazzanats, might have to throw something cheap and skid worthy together for that.

If so many people have a problem with it why didnt they start a thread themselves, like has been said they have done the best they can with people WHO HAVE expressed an interest last year and this year. Next year can always post a pic of your car and a list of mods etc and they can be voted on, once voted in pay upfront, always makes me wanna turn up if ive already paid.

Anyway good job guys and look forward to seeing the display.

Thanks guy, its good to get some support.

The display is going to look awsome i think. A good friend of mine is doing a lighting display for us, he does this for a living, so it should be great! We have promo girl organized, banners etc. PK has put in ALOT of work, time and his own money to get this off the ground, and ive been running around adelaide collecting peoples money to get it all in nice and early.

pk an flick are doin a wicked job to date of gettin every one together an sorting stuff out in there own time. of wat iv seen pk pm'd ppl that his seen posing with there cars an entering shows etc not just ppl that say theyll do this and that but dont do anythin coz of the effort factor. an unlike other shows like powerfest etc autosalon is more for looks that go coz most of the cars u c there u dont c move so they cant proov how good there set up is all they see is how good it looks, an most ppl want to see higher KW cars that wat most of us can afford, 250 to 300 in my books is heaps but wen say the GTR 34 from last yr jumps on b4 u an pulls 600kw on first run an urs only makes 350 ppl will just get up an leave coz 350 ant as entertaing as the 600 b4 that. so entering for just looks is btr than goin in for power at this one in my books

If you were not one of the people that got chosen for the SAU Display you can go in the show by yourself....

We have done our own displays for a few years now (as well as club displays in the past) It is heaps of fun.

Keep in mind that a club display is limited to a max of about 11 or 12 cars.

So if you think your car is up to get your application in, you have till the 27th July for the cheap entry.

Simon

ok well ill put mine up first - to be honest, i havent even seen some of the cars that PK invited, but i trust his judgment, As i said we went for diff models/colours/mods - some ''rice'' as some call it, and some with power.. so show and go i guess

Mxtc, thats cool, i was just worried people would be negative against PK and myself, which would suck..

I know my car isnt 'all that much' - just kit colour and rims, but im proud of it and i love my car.. know its worth nearly zilch compared to some cars that enter, but im doing it for the club and for the fun and experience of it.

One day when i have money, she will be show AND go, but for now, i can just afford to have what i do..

ok so most of yas know my car anyway, but ill start the ball rolling then..

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
