Hey i'm going to buy some oil from http://performancelub.com/ in about a week and it costs abotu $20 for shipping 5 litres so i figured if anyone wanted to order with me, we might be able to save on shipping a bit.

If you live on the Gold Coast and are keen, let me know and we'll organise a mutual shipping destination or something.

Anyhow if no one needs oil or wants to come in on this (the discount on shipping may well be minimal anyway) no worries, I'll place my order probably friday 13th July monday 9th july

(never mind the numbers below, there's no limit to this, other than i'd like to order by next friday and I can probably only cover a couple of people if need be, otherwise, i'll need cash up front)

Keen person / product / suburb

im keen mate for that. let me know what i need to do :domokun:

yeah you gotta buy the 5 separate quarts which is just under 5 litres all told which should be enough for most 'lines i think.

i'm still tossing up between royal purple or mobil 1. i'm running rp at the moment....doesn't really bother me tho, i'm doing my second oil change in 3,000 kms and will do another in another 3,000 when i move to redline after cleaning my engine with the early changes.

i'm thinking you can get whatever oil you want though as its just the shipping that we'll be splitting, so i suppose it's not technically a group buy.

depending on how many people go in, i'm happy to cover the full amount for everybody and have them pay me on pickup/delivery (i live on the goldy but work in the city just fyi if that helps anyone). i mean the worst that could happen is that i've got a heap of brand new oil that cost me less than retail....:S

i'll edit my first post and add a list there, - people that want in, just pm me, let me know what you want and where you live (just the suburb will do) and we'll organise it from there.

i said $20 for shipping 5 litres.

what you pay for each quart depends on what type of oil you want, hence the link to the website with said prices.

if you can find a better price, let me know cos i've looked

royal purple can be got for a similar price to the full price of the oil plus shipping from some autobarns. but they don't actually keep it on stock at most places and if they order it for you, it's $8 delivery. so it ends up being more than performancelub.com anyway, and i'd prefer to support this dude than autobarn.

this place is the cheapest around i have found for Royal Purple I have bought 20quarts and a set of NGK Iridium IX plugs from this guy, good seller good fast shipping i would highly recommend.

if you can get your royal purple / ngk cheaper anywhere else PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

otherwise this dude is awesome!

yeah man, i asked bursons how much for redline (cos they're one of the few places that stock it on the gold coast and was quoted $160 for 4 litres.

seriously check out the "The goods on oils" thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=22458

redline is the shiz, but you also pay for quality with this gear. also it will last longer than other oils (good for 7500-10000kms) so it actually works out not as expensive as it initially looks. thats why i'm using the cheaprer (rp or mobil1) to run through my engine for my sub 5000km changes before i start using the redline.

I "Wanna Buy Some Oil And Save On Shipping" but i dont wanna buy this shitty oil, anychance of getting Motul?

Shane I'm keen to know why you would say that royal purple oil is shitty?

Care to share with us your reasons or anything to back up your comments.

haha i was only stirrin the pot mate :woot:

personally i'll only use motul chrono v, and motul ff comp :w00t:

not stirring the pot or anything... but i'd happily go out on a limb and say redline is better than motul. but then again it does cost more, and the benefits....well depends who you talk to i guess - much of a muchness probably. I think, but don't quote me, that redline is the only group V oil you can get, while motul is a group IV.

granted royal purple is not in the same league though. in fact given the lack of info about rp i'm considering just going with mobil1 for my 'flush' oil.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
