hey i'm new to this forum so i dno if i've posted in the wrong section but i'm really interested in buying an R34 GT-T, i've read about them n shit and i have heard a lot about bad experiences with imports and modded cars...

Should i import it? Who off?

What should i look out for when i'm buying from an importer?

i want to buy one with NO mods - heard too many bad stories!

How hard is it gonna be to resell?

Read somewhere i can make it a 4.5s - 100km/h car for not so much $$$ - true? (i don't think so)

Best place(s) in victoria to buy/fit mods

Is there anything about r34's i should worry about (like reccurring probs or just shit that always happen with them)

R34 easy to steal? should i get an immobiliser and club lock n shit?

if anyone can answer some of these questions that'd be awesome, also anyone who feels they wanna add more info please do it

Every one of your questions has been answered countless times on the forum. I suggest you take your questions, search the keywords, and read up.

For importing - look in this forum (Imports)

For modification queries - look in Forced Induction

Workshops in Vic - look in the Victoria forum

Alarms - look in the Car Audio and Security forum

etc.

David @ Elite Auto Imports on http://www.rpmlounge.com.au/forums/

He imported my car in for a brokerage fee of only $500! List down what you want(R34 GTT etc), and dont want(no mods etc), and he'll hunt the perfect car down for ya.

".... I've read about them n shit?"

Get your loan approved first, it'll save a lot of time.

Also, what license do you have. If you're on P's, forget about an R34 turbo.

Oh, and one final thing, club locks are a waste of time. Get an imobiliser AND alarm, preferably one that is monitored.

  • 2 weeks later...

Before you get the car factor in money for quarantine holding fees ($25 per day - can take weeks or months), decontamination fees, tow truck costs from quarantine to your compliance workshop (very expensive) etc etc

After you get the car factor in money aside for alarm, insurance, tune up and maintenance aswell.

    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
    • I use FCC car launcher. It has an option for different backgrounds, so instead of turning the screen off you can swipe 'up' to a black screen with no background/icons. (mine has the time on it only). It's kinda nice. Also lets you use gestures to say swipe to go to next song, etc.
