heyy all was out with my mate tonight in his 33 and we were near the bianco building site at the end of prospect road.

my other mate in his 31 was with us too.

we were just standing there parked n had my mates 33 bonnett up when an unmarked cop car pulled up behind us.

3 cops got out.

1 came up to us and asked what we were doing

we said just havn a chat and a smoke.

another cop came up and started looking at the engine bay.

the 1st cop then says that theyve had reports of hoon driving and breakins.

we had been doing nothing so we knew we wernt gonna get in sh*t.

he then asks for our licenses so we give them to him

he writes down r details and then takes them back to his car

he sits in his car for about 10 mins..i think checking our records or sum shit n then says see ya and drives off. oh and he gave r licenses back. oh n the cop wasnt an ass he was actually an alright guy.

but im wonering if im gonna get in sh*t now coz he took r details down.

will anything happen to me??

or am i just being a tad paranoid????

your not just being paranoid. your delusional! :)

i thought the same thing until the bastards grabbed me in a chokehold and threw me on the bonnet for arguing the point and promptly ditched me in the slammer...

fought the KUNTS and won.

packed it up, moved to Japan and lifes been sweet ever since. never been hassled by a cop since. That was three years ago and im okay to drive any damned car i want in any modification i desire,...

get over here mate ad live it up if you love driving machines...

Aussie authorities are just that... Anal. japanese society is understanding and lets you do anyhting you want to your car without penalising you.

Before and if you do come over, please make sure your english is up to scratch because you wouldnt last a heartbeat in toyko with the spelling you just typed..

no problem mate. Im from adelaide myself. i saw prospect and i thought " here we go!"..its just as you said.

but its just as i said too. You may have seen PHUMAN around town... a very good friend of mine and a shame hes selling up..i know how much he adored that 34..

he got hassled NON STOP and he got shit to tears over the whole thing..dont blame him really.

Japan is all its cracked up to be and then some...especially regarding girls, nightlife an cars!

give yourself a few years and come over on a working holiday visa! change your life i guarantee it will.

if your worried about the girl and the skyline, dont worry. You can sell the skyline and ditch the girl ( provided its platonic :) ), come over and get it all over again and then some...

its all white..Black rims now..used to have Drift R rims.. Used to have the flame red tiger rips down the side. youd always see him ( Phu that is ) at the salons and show'n'shines...always hung out with Jason who drove PHONIX the honda S2000, now in a merc E55 AMG..PIMP i think is the plate ( been a while since ive seen those crew.. ), Nick with the Lexus is200 black and pimped, Truoung in the IS200 DFECTME in the blue paint and the airbags....

bit too much info but im sure you know now the crew im talking about.

Its a shame....Phu's poured over 100K into that car and babied it every step of the way...

he has his reasons im sure.

It's because you're in Adelaide. If it were in Vic... you would have been breath tested, drug tested, (still awaiting results mind you... useless) you might be handcuffed... maybe. And you would be standing on the side of the road with no car (for it now has a canary for having an "intercoolant" and is being impounded), scratching your head saying, "what the f**k just happened!?!?" And just as a final kick in the balls, another cop will drive past and books you for loitering!.... count yourself lucky... you should be sweet! :)

they took your license details from you cause they want to drive past your house one morning (2-5am), ramm through your front door waking you up and grabbing you out of bed miltary style and then terrigating you like a terriost cause you own a modified car which in turn makes you a hoon.

    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
    • You don't have an R34 service manual for the body do you? Have found plenty for the engine and drivetrain but nothing else
    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
