MAS_R33
Hi guys, Just about to get some rubber for a set of 18's which i have yet to put on my car (standard r33). I was looking at 225 all round though the tyre store suggest 235 all round any comments / suggestions? cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177206-tyre-size-recommendation/ Share on other sites
GTshortie
You better off with 235 at the front and 255/265 at the rear, you'll struggle and have issues with 245 up front 225 is too small for 18inch rims this is for an R33 gts25t right? MAS_R33
thanks for your reply. yep for a R33 GTST I assumed 225 as this is what is on the rims at the moment (18`X8.5 rim size). I thought for rego (nsw) you couldnt go bigger than 1 inch from front to back Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177206-tyre-size-recommendation/#findComment-3237944 Share on other sites
Sticky
It depends on what you want? 235 is cheap and a common size since commodore use it, 245 is what falcons use standard. 225 is a good fit for a 8.5 inch wide wheel, but as i said it depends on what you want them for - handling, straight line grip, looks (stretch).... or any other reasons. If you want grip go 235 all round, but if you have big power go 265 on the rear. If you want looks go for the 225. There isnt much difference but with thinner tyres you will get better fuel economy since having less tyre to move. Due to their common use and good price, I suggest going for 235's all round. They would be the best medium. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177206-tyre-size-recommendation/#findComment-3238654 Share on other sites

sigsputnik
sorry to piggyback, but what size tyres should i go for with 17x9.5? this is for a gtr. this site (http://www.pneus-online.co.uk/equivalency-tables-advice.html) says 245 minimum - which is the size i'd like to go for as it appears quite common and not too expensive. i guess i'm after looks on a daily driver...any ideas?
