ok guys heres a long story short.

got my car back from the tuners a week ago, was runing superbly, wasnt missing a beat. nyway yesterday im taking the car out of the driveway, i give it a bit of a hit, and once d revs reached around 4000+ it made dis loud screeching noise. so i backed off and geared up. tried it in second gear and same thing. anyway granny shifted for a few minutes tried giving it a hit again, and the noise was gone for the rest of the trip. parked the car at the shops for bout 45mins, and when i got back in it and drove off, it did d same problem for d first 5 mins of driving den disapeared.

i thought maybe its d turbo, however, no loss of oil or any smoke. also if it was the turbo, i assumed d noise would be constant, not leave after 5 mins of driving. anyone got anyyyy ideas what it could be???

If its the stock turbo the turbo bearings are most likely shot.

I had the same thing 6 weeks ago. As soon as the turbo spooled to any decent sort of rotational speed it made a very very loud "screeching" sound.

It happened instantly. No warning at all. I reckon it sounds more like a crowd at the a fireworks display. eg a "wooooooooo" sound.

Volume is also very loud. I thought I ran over a cat the first time it did it and it got jammed under the car.

When I removed the turbo from the vehicle I could feel a bit of roughness in the bearings but not that excessive. Shaft play was also minimal.

The seals were perfect, no smoke, no water or oil loss. The only fault was worn bearings.

As a test you can idle the car with the bonnet open and rev it by pushing on the throttle whilst standing over the turbo. If you hear an unusual roughness and louder than normal whining noise coming from the turbo then thats probably it.

If your lucky it might just be the alternator belt. My turbo was only 70,000kms but it had been boosted at 12psi for about a year. Bearings are a weak point for the stock turbo probably due to the very high rpms of small diameter turbines. Its not an uncommon fault. If you catch it early enough the ceramic fins will still be okay.

Best of luck.

If you are saying the noise goes away when hot then it could be one of the gearbox bearings or input shaft bearings getting a bit worn.

I have this problem also, however its only when the gearbox and the oil are cold. Cold mornings are the worst.

After 1km down the street its gone.

To test this just rev it up in neutral to 4000 rpm and if the noise does'nt appear (compared to in gear) then that's the problem.

If it is a gearbox bearing I would just ignore it or maybe change the gearbox oil.

thanx for d replies guys. will get d belts checked out etc. and i dont think its the gearbox, because the noise can also be heard by reving it hard in neutral before taking it for a drive. im hoping its a belt. and as for mods, i got:

Apexi pFC, bosch 044 pump, z32 afm, 3" turbo back exhaust, arc filter, fmic, hks evc3,

also, if it was the turbos bearing i dont think the noise would go away after a while. think it might be either a belt, or possible throttle related as sumone pointed out. will look into it asap. any more ideas would be appreciated.

thanks guys

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
