Hi everyone,

I had my car stolen earlier in the year, and the insurance company decided not to pay out to cover any damages from the theft.

What has now happened, is that I have recieved my car back from their holding yard with a whole stack of interior parts missing. They are saying that this all happened whilst in the care of the Police holding yard and that their holding yard had nothing to do with it, and as such are saying that if it happened while the car was not in their care, then they are not liable.

So what I'm getting at is I think I need to speak to a solicitor or something along those lines to find out exactly what I should be doing from this point onwards.

Can anyone recommend someone to speak to?

Cheers,

Chris.

I've got no idea what the go is in your situation, but I'd get them to put it in writing, and call up the Insurance Ombudsmen - 1300 780 808 - http://www.insuranceombudsman.com.au/

They'll let you know what the go is and provide a final answer. It's basically a dispute resolution service who'll deal with your insurance company and enforce them to pay out if they are liable to do so.

I wouldn't stuff around doing anything else.

If it happened in the Police Impound I hate to tell you tell you but I think your probably screwed.

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, the car went to impound, even had photo's of it with the stereo in the car taken as they were putting it on the back of the tow truck.

When I collected the car from the impound it was less $1000 of stereo equipment, Subs, Amp, Head unit, the whole lot. Insurance told me to get bent as well, because it was the Police Impound lot and had nothing to do with them.

I kicked up a huge commotion, got absolutely nowhere, ended up giving up in the end (it was going to cost more to go to court).

What gets me is that the cop who took the report just sort of rolled his eyes and said "oh yeah, it happens all the time at the impound..".

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
