Ok from what I've read you have said that you used to only own a "cheap 400 buck car" which you had an accident in. You ignored the damage you had caused and didn't pay up and THEN went out and bought an R33? And now you're annoyed because they want the money that you've already spent on luxuries when you should have paid for damages to another persons car? :D

Sell the car, pay the insurance company that paid to fix the other poor bloke's car and move on with your life. If they do end up repossessing it they won't care how much they sell it for and you won't get anywhere close to what you'll get for selling it privately.

look man, sell the car and pay it off

Your lucky you haven't been taken to court earlier, I mean crashing into someone and not paying and not having insurance...

That's just plain dodgy, if you can't afford insurance, you can't afford a car, simple as that, most insurance companies have options to pay once a month

so that's $33 at the most, you probably spent more on petrol per week that that!!!

If you don't sell the car or get it repod, the courts will order you to pay back the money till it's gone and bankrupt you.

Meaning 7-years and beyond... no bank will let you get a credit card, mortgage, loan...

You've basically screwed someone elses pride and joy and haven't paid them for screwing them over, so you will get what you deserve mate.

:D

well thats not true..the insurance would have paid out the other guy..now they're just trying to recover the costs...

Golden rule.

If you cant afford to insure a car with at least 3rd party, then dont have one

talking from experience, if you can't afford/aren't willing to insure a car with comprehensive, then don't have one. especially if its an import that will cost a lot of money to repair.

I just paid my insurance for the first time on my skyline it cost me $2000 :(

I am not willing to take the risk of only buying 3rd party... and you see idiots on the road everyday..

The insurance will go down in time so its only a sort term pain, But like most people have said i think you should sell the R33 and pay of this debt because it will follow you around for along time

dw problem sorted doing a payment plan they are happy with $50 per month....

@ least the skline does have full comp soo im all covered

but yeah thanks anyways...for the help evan tho most of it was negative

So its costing you more than third party would be per year...

But you can't afford insurance?

What you should do is go and engage a solicitor to provide you with legal representation... start making deals with the insurance company, e.g. off them something with an incensive to provide you with an installment plan... e.g. pay them $1,000 cash now and then $500 every month until the debt is paid off... otherwise if you cannot afford this, you will be taken to court - the Magistrates court through the power of attorney for the state of Victoria will pay your debt for you then you will go to jail for a couple of months. I would avoid the jail thing and work your arse off to pay off your debt... it was your fault after all... this will cost you no doubt... and yes, if the courts see that your car is your assett they will force you to sell it to pay the insurance company back....

So you are happy paying $50 a month for the next 16.5 Years?

I wish they had screwed you more..

People who weasel out of this kind of crap are the lowest forms of life...

I hope karma comes and your pride and joy 33 is smashed by someone without insurance

sorry if thats harsh... but its true

Couldn't agree more, if you can't afford to insure a car and you drive it you're a fool. If someone like you hit me and didn't pay up I'd be coming for blood. This sort of sh|t really p|ssed me off. As much as it hurts you need to grow up and take some responsibility. I paying close to 3k full comp on my R33, why? Because I could afford it, if you can't then don't drive that type of car. Wait until you are older, your premium is lowr and THEN do it. Simple.

from what I've heard about debt collectors is that they take your vehicle from u and what u own and give u a bad credit rating + file you for bankrupt. So no loans no nothing for 5-7yrs....

I dunno why you would get a skyline yet cant afford 3rd party insurance.....u gotta be more careful on the road next time mate.

The reason most of the advice was negative is because what you have done is wrong. You've basically stated that you didn't want to pay up at the time for screwing someone over, the insurance companies have compensated them thankfully, AND THEN you went and bought an R33 EVEN THOUGH you still owed money for the consequences of your actions. You'll find bugger all sympathy here mate, some drunk woman bent my door in and F*$ked the passenger side of my car and didn't have insurance. It took me a month to get MY insurance company to pay for the damages and even longer for them to wave the excess for me.

People like you annoy the hell outta me and a lot of other people on here will agree, I didn't buy my R33 till I was 25, because I couldn't really afford to insure it and look after it, I accepted that and drove round in a lancer for awhile, fully insured. You need to perhaps realise that you can't really afford the car yet, sell it, buy a car with full insurance and drive that till you're older and more mature and also more financially stable. Ask yourself this, what if you'd hit a mercedes or BMW, what would you owe the insurance company then?

Grow up.

just relax guys shit happends...its all sorted now...anyways the accident happend last year and i only got the notice not so long ago and between that time i worked and got a loan payed some bills and wanted to buy a nice car....i mean i was expecting the insurance company to be intouch with me a few weeks after the accident

anywho paying it off now so all is well dont need to drag it on.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
