Need some advice

Just recently purchased a new trust style body kit.

Done a trial fit today before I send it off to get sprayed and the front bar doesnt fit with the standard reinforcement bar.

Is there usually a modified reo bar to get with new front bars or is it best to modify the stock one?

Has anyone modified their reo bar? Whats the best way to do it? Many complications?

I am lead to beleive the bar needs to be modified also when installing a new fmic??

Can someone please advise me the best way to go about this?

Thanks!

its hard to say without seeing the bar. can u take a pick of the inside of the bar and ill help you out how i can. my reo i cut to fit my trial front bar.

but yeh post a pic of your bar and ill see what i can do.

When fitting a cooler or a new front bar, it's quite common for people to cut the reo bar.

Only down side to this is that if the insurance company find out, they could turn down your claim.

i will take photo of fb and reo in morning for you thanks for help

probably shouldnt assumed, but did. thought the bar would have come prepared to spray n fit to car but have to drill holes for bolts n stuff which isnt an issue but just fitting it round the reo bar.

my old man is a panel beater which helps... but hasnt been in the game for 6+ years...his concerns are not only the actual support but also the legality of cutting so much of the bar away...more for defect reasons.

I been told to b careful with how u modify reo bar for defect reasons, so just wanna know how other people have done it.

if anyone has actually fitted a trust/trust style bar that can post pics or instructions of reo bar would be great.

I will post pics of bar... and bar on car /c reo bar in morning...thnx for help guys! heaps appreciate it!

:)

I would think you will have to chop the bottom section off, just like in this pic, but like the guys said you could have insurance problems as a front end smash would total your car, I've never seen any that had to cut reo bars for the front mounts on cars, even larges ones, but it all depends on the front mount you got.

Hmm very interested in this. As i am considering a trust front bar. I take it everyone with this bar has had to modify the reo bar?

I've fitted Trust gracer, Topsecret, Jun, and Trial front bumpers to R33 gtst's, and they all needed the reo bar cut like this.

So in doing so it would become a lot weaker structually? Hence totally illegal?

Yeah it would mate.

You can always rebuild it to fit and up to par with the stock bar (strength wise) and get it engineered can't you? I remember hearing someone say something about this, but not sure.

The series 1 reo is slightly better than the series 2, as the series 2 is a little fatter and higher (see pic). They are a simple swap around and sometimes you are able to get away with not cutting the reo.

I have a S1 and still need to modify the reo.

Have a pretty good idea of how to do it now but any input is good input.

will post up pix of the modifications done to the bar and as doing it to help the others that are going to be doing it.

Here are a few pix of the trust bar, and the reo bar, also there is a pic of the bar being held up to the reo bar so show where the issues are and where it needs to be modified.

Hey just a thought, i noticed you dont have an fmic, wouldn't any r33 with an fmic have to have a modfied reo bar anyways. In which case the bar would fit for people with fmic? I know this isn't really helping you out but just for others / myself thinking about a trust bar.

yes i think so... well by looking at it and from what other people have said you will have to modify the reo to fit any fmic

Im going to be putting in a fmic within the next few weeks, that was one of the main reasons why i chose the trust fb as it has the nice gap in the middle for the fmic...either way i dont think there is any way around not chopping up the reo bar.

I will take some pics for ya next weekend when we do the modifying of it and post up a small tutorial for ya to make things easier for when you do it

but then again... as was pointed out by "psi parts" the s2 has a slightly different reo so may not help that much but may give you a general idea

i have this bar and a front mount intercooler and yes mine has been cut for the shape of the front bar...

how did you cut the reo?

did you cut the bottom off? and abit of the top? I thought if i cut the top part of the reo, just enough if would fit in the small gap of the top section of the fb...

do you have any pics of the modified reo by any chance?

yeah i will have a look, post a pic in a min...

    • Ironically the GTT was quite reliable in the 7 years of ownership. From memory I've only had to replace a radiator and coilpacks out of inconvenience
    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
