upto how much power can you run with the stock smic? I am aiming for a the 200rwkw range and currently running a 3inch full zorst, and ebc..looking at getting a pfc in the next couple of weeks. so is a fmic really necessary to hit my mark?

you will have better and cooler air flow once you install a fmic

i personally think it's essential for the health of your motor.. especially when raising boost levels and living in the hotter conditions of australia, opposed to japan

some people say they noticed more turbo lag, but for me i noticed it spooled the same, and went somewhat harder during full boost

i would upgrade to fmic before anything else :nyaanyaa:

The quality seems reasonable, pipings a reasonable diameter, all round for the money I dont think you could go wrong.

Theres definitely a difference in the workmanship between the Cooling Pro cooler and say a Trust cooler (one of which I *also* happen to have sitting in my room...), but to be honest I highly doubt it would translate to any tangible benefits between having a slightly better made/better welded core/end tanks, compared to the JJ kit.

If youre going for a monster 600kW drag engine build, yeah go brand name for sure, youll want the best of everything. But for a mildly worked 200 - 250kW street car, I think a Cooling Pro kit is definitely the best choice for the money

You could go for a 34 SMIC... Cheap and effective. If you go the JJ ones you will most likely have to do some chopping which can be defective and void insurance.

Or you could get a cooler and then custom piping etc.

I believe for approx. 200kw targets the 34 SMIC is the best option.

Right on the money.

i bought one way back and i was in the same position.

if i could go back in time i would defiently spend the extra bux to buy a proper kit. the crap from justjap just didnt fit good enough, had to mod this and that.

but its up to you. i know alot of 34 owners who wernt to happi with the justjap coolers. mainly because you have to remove the engine cover, modify clearance from the fan ect ect. where as greedy/blitz/hks coolers are a direct fit no questions asked.

i even got the kit fitted by a workshop so no faulty backyard job or anything.

like everyone else has said, it works fine....and it sure does, but a bit of a stuff around.....

you get wat u pay for i guess, and i got as much as i paid. 350 bux....

well i got one and it fitted perfectly, no complaints.....except i was missing 1 bracket.....i had to fabricate something but not a big problem...they prob would have sent out the missing part if i was patience enough...

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
