Sorry guys, not skyline related but heck, its kinda related since we all require net to access SAU :)

Anyway, just scooped out TPG.. They have a really cheap deal goin on for ADSL connection at $79.95 a month for a 512/128 speed with free USB ADSL modem.. This is amazing.., cheapest ADSL 512 ever!!!!

I bloody went on the 256/64 plan 2 weeks ago payin $69.95 a month when 512/128 was $139.95. Can't you believe they dropped the price to $79.95 over a 2 week internal.. and now for me to switch over to 512/128 plan I have to pay extra $99 connection fee?? I Feel JIBBBEDD..

the only people that are getting ripped is anyopne that is connected with telstra......They got what $80 for 3 gig a month...pfftt that. i pay 80 per month for 6 gig on peak and 6 gig off peak which makes a massive 12gig on 512/128 connection speed.....oh yeah and i don't get charged for downloading over my limit....they just throttle back the connection speed.....check out www.iinet.com.au......and one more thing it makes my internet cheaper than the guy who works at telstra gets it

duncan... i'm planning on hopping onto TPG as well, I'm jus guaging how the quality is... *** the tech support... what's the speeds like, how's the conjestion level, what are your peak speeds and off peak speeds like?

pavel - my sister is with DODO but generally speaking have u checked out properly if the issue is with ur provider and not ur pc or modem???

i work in Tech for another company so i dont gain anything from lying to u about ur connection...

what PC specs and modem?

I think the speeds were pretty average - from this thread.....

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&highlight=adsl

...I did a test at this site

http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

tonites results are:

400kb/s = 21 sec for 1 mb.

As I understand it ADSL is affected by distance from exchange? we're approx 3km away from ours.

3kms? is that the length the wires travel or u have to travel... cause u could be right next door to it but the cabling to get to ur house may take 4kms

btw use a proper test like a local FTP to guage ur speed... 400kb/s is physically impossible on adsl. unless u mean 400kiloBITpersec

Me PC:

P 4 1.7

512 RAM

30 GIG HDD

- etc.....

56K modem: D-Link dfm-560e

My hardware is ok, its the ISP, when i signed up like 4-5 months ago it was fast, now its all SLOW!!! i might chage to http://www.neighborhoodcable.com.au/produc...lup_geelong.php

yep, kbps, not KB per second.

And yeah, 3km away, could be longer cable-wise but it is straight down a main road - i haven't checked with a tape measure :O

I just ran it again:

Details

Your raw speed was 375182.44 bits per second which is the same as:

Communications

375.2 kilobits per second

How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet

Storage

45.8 kilobytes per second

The way data is measured on your hard drive and how file sharing and FTP programs measure transfer speeds. Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.

1MB file download

Suggestions on how else to test speed?

lol yeah its always the ISP :O

when was the last time u reinstalled the modem driver? DFM560s arent the greatest modems. Are you using the latest driver? Have you tried locking the modem down to a more stable speed?

Tried a decent external modem?

Could also be the phoneline... things change over time, like line quality... ever seen a telstra techie van around the neighbourhood?

theres so many things that can affect the way it works

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
