I have difficulty going into first when stationary.

i have to always go into 2nd or 3rd first then push to first.

is hard.

is it the thrust bearing or the clutch???

any idea?

because I thought of changing clutch, but if is not the clutch that's faulty, i can save the money. ^_^

So anyone knows???

Cheers.

Start the engine

Pull up the handbrake

Put it in 4th gear

give it some revs and see how far you can let the clutch out

if you can get it out all the way then your clutch is dead

far as in if you can let the clutch all the way out without stalling

if its smooth when the engine is off it sounds more like a gearbox/synchro issue

So if i experience shudder or the engine stall, my clutch is fine?

how I know whether is it my thrust bearing???

my spray painter told me is my thrust bearing...

Thrust bearing usually will have a rough feeling, noise when you go to push clutch in.

Bugger, I will probably get gbox rebuilt with new bearings and synchros $1500 roughly.

And I gotta put in braided clutch line and get rid of clutch dampener thing under the car. My clutch grabs as I come to a stop in gear with clutch peddal depressed(delay) and engine almost stalls. I think it's the clutch dampener.

I have an os gikken tripple plate though.

i tried it. never give revs, the car move forward and shudder at end, engine did not stall.

and GTRsean, what do you mean?

"I'll put in the clutch line and get rid of dampener first!" <----what's the purpose???

Cheers.

Got a great feeling need to spend a bomb.

The clutch dampener seems to engage, disengage slave cylinder smoother(bit of delay, indirect), it's a metal square with a hose loop in it under the car near the slave cylinder.

When I put in my braided line, it goes straight from clutch master to slave cylinder, so it bypasses damper.

Yep, I think it's new clutch time or something for you!?

well you really should have given it some revs to see if its actually slipping

if you can let it out the whole way with some revs on board, without stalling and without the car moving forward then your clutch is slipping

Alternatively, find a big steep hill, put your foot down in 4th gear and see if it slips.

You should be able to smell it if its slipping aswell

Mines slipping at the moment but only when i push about 1bar at certain points in the rev range.

Enough to be anoying though.

Is there some easy adjustment that can be made in the mean time to make it clamp a bit harder until the change is done?

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
