To make life easier - anyone who gets the Qstarz BT - Q1000 (not sure if it works with the 818) go to this stite http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196368

Download the BT747_1.39_en_full.zip file

Run the Java program - connect the GPS with the COM data etc - then go to the Ctrl Tab and where it says Time (s) put in 0.2 and press set and you now have a 5Hz GPS logger.

easy.

u can change the holux m1000 to 5hz

its configurable 1-5, i changed mine the other night and works fine.

send me a pm with your email address and ill send you the application you need. its pretty small, just 1 .exe file.

You'll need to have a bluetooth/serial connection from pc - holux to change it obviously though.

oo didnt no we could upload files, thought it was just pics.

anywho use this program.

once your connected to the gps, go into 'setup' and change 'fix update rate' from 1 to 5 then click set and shes all done.

Some help please, I have a Nokia 6120c, what do I need to make this timer work......... :ninja:

I have one of those phones - and I purchased ONE OF THESE and then used the java software to change it to 5Hz (see a few posts up)

Enter the technical dumass...

If i purchased the QSTARZ BT-Q1000, then did the software upgrade to it - is there software that i can run on a laptop to view this or do i need a certain nokia phone? Are the lap times able to be displayed as they happen like a normal lap timer or do you need to download the info after data logging?

You need a nokia phone that runs symbian S60 2nd edition feature pack 1 and above, or Nokia S60 3rd edition (IE. 6120 classic, 6121, 6110 navigator, N series). The software gives you lap times as they happen on the phone you dont need to download it from the phone. If you have a 6110 or N95 with built in GPS you can just install the software and it will use the gps built into the phone.

Do i need to purchase the qstarz BT-Q1000 as mentioned, or will the BT-Q818 do?

They are both listed as 1hz default, but up to 5hz update rate.

Will the software still work with the 818? and if so what's the benefit of going the 1000?

The 1000 has logging capabilities, I used mine on the weekend at a rally and just set it to log ever 50 metres, damn accurate when i uploaded it to Google Earth

    • I’m here solo don’t have any hands to help so haven’t hit it with a timing light
    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).
    • Car is on factory injectors/z32 maf/ q45 throttle body/ z32 ecu with nistune
    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
