Hi,

i just installed my sound system....

when i turned up the to certain volume, front speaker doesn;t work...

my system has a JVC headunit with only 1 RCA preout, kenwood 4 ch 500W, front speaker is pioneer kelvar 6in slipt component, the rear speaker is Apline type S 6in.

since HU has only one RCA preout, i bought a Hi/Low converter for the front speaker

the problem is now, when i turn up volume to certain level, the front speaker stops working, the rear still work....

i have to turn off the HU, and turn down the volume, then the front speaker works again. Again when i turn volume up to certain level, front peaker stop...

what will be the problem???

First things first, dont install it yourself if you dont what you are doing.

Second you have a short somewhere it is as simple as that, sending your product into protection most likely the amplifier.

And you dont need a hi/lo level converter if you have one rca. All you need is a couple of splitters.

As above.. if you have a speaker-to-RCA type of converter to get a 2nd pair of RCA outputs.... don't bother =-]

My last setup (previous car) was easily done by buying two RCA splitters (10cm long) and splitting the RCA right at the amp. I didn't have any problems with interference or loss of voltage over the RCA's. It was just as if I had two sets of pre-outs. (except for having to balance front/rear via the amp)

Does it meant my Headunit do not have enough voltage for the Hi/Low convertor?

Umm.. no idea. I was just saying that if you *DO* use an RCA splitter to your 4-channel amp, you shouldn't have any problems with voltage over RCA.

If your setup wasn't working from the outset, it's worth trying this method. It'll only cost you $20-30 for the splitters and maybe an hour of your time.

    • Hey guys I have a 2001 Nissan stagea vq25det, I don't have any engine lights and not really any issues running but I was curious to see if I could use my obd II scanner to find anything that was hidden and I plugged my scanner in and it just said "Low voltage cannot scan" does anyone know how to fix this or what this could be?

    • So, no videos, but, the FAB9 Elite manifold and 68mm Bosch throttle bodies are in stock, but, not the rear part of the air box The FAB9 rear airbox thingie is made with a 3" intake pipe, to suit the 3" intake pipe size of a 68mm throttle body  When they get some more in stock is currently unknown as I'm waiting for FAB9 to reply with a ETA on resupply, my assumption is they outsource their plastic printing stuff to "china", and with the current "tariff war" going on in 'Merica it could be on hold for an undisclosed time Should I pull the pin on the Intake and throttle body, and wait for the airbox?????, that's what I'm thinking... 1. Would the standard 2.75" OEM intake on the air box really be that much of a restriction compared to the 3" naturally aspirated?????? 2. If I don't get the 3" FAB9 airbox fitted at the same time as the intake and throttle body will it need a retune, when/if it eventually turns up?????? As I'm impulsive, to a fault, decisions will be made within....."what's the time now"???....let's say 12 hours......LOL
    • yeah its just so expensive nowadays and its easy to lose motivation very quickly when you start adding up the costs. I acquired the car from a collector in Melbourne and was lucky to get the opportunity to buy something already completed.  I looked at a proper resto and your paying over 300-400K for a proper one (nut and bolt) so this one to me seemed like a much better option! Car is in private storage and for serious buyers, welcome to come see it/drive it in person (photos don't do it justice).
