Hello everyone, long time lurker fairly new poster.

Just wanting some advice if possible. I am currently looking at purchasing a skyline and am wanting somthing mechanically sound. I have recently found a car and was wondeing if there is anywhere that does pre purchase inspections? I know of RAA etc, but have been told there knowledge of imports isnt great. I am a female without a huge amount of mechanical knowledge and I dont want to be taken for a ride.

Thankyou for your input in advance

welcome sarah,

depending what side of town you live on there are a few places you can take your car to and have them give it the once over.

boostworx out south, morpowa out north, graham west workshop closer to town, etc. check the workshop thread on the main page.

theyll be more than happy to give your car a look and tell you whats what.

good luck, dave.

Welcome Sarah. Ignore the walking-talking erections here :D

As mentioned, check the workshops thread for one close to you and arrange for them to inspect the car. Good luck with it. Hope you buy a pearler and see you around SAU more :D

Me too...matty

does this mean I'm sponsored by the gov for new car toys ??...lol better get some new stickers for my first sponsor. krudd racing team.lol NOT!!!

funny how its already spent on things before it even arrives

Sarah welcome, recommend a compression test if the car is $$$ and your serious about buying it

and the normal items , belts, water pump 100k service if its older. does the wear on gear shift and steering wheel match the k's??

has it been defected recently, look for shonky low budget fixes to dump the car after defect cleared.

accident damage inspection, look in the boot under carpet for rust, patch work etc, same for the front guard area, body seams line up ???

Rob prime in the south does inspections and decent basic work , but not a skyline spec.

if its a dealer ,, offer them 4-5k less ,,,lots of mark up in cars..lol

I brought the front bar from viva, which fits really well! :D

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
    • Ah coolant overflow, previous discussions make way more sense now lol.
    • ok. Yea, then I would need to remove the turbo and weld an adapter on to it instead, if I fuc* this one up.
    • No. Only for a standard ECU with/without Nistune. Standalone has no need for it. That's like the 3rd time I've said so.   And as to that sensor linked - yes, it does look like it would be the right one. I've never bothered to see how available they were - just assumed that they'd be hard to find. I think I'd be planning to go Link ECU rather than buy sensors I don't actually want to make Nistune work, if I did not already have Nistune. As you do not already have Nistune, you should realy consider your options.
