Seriously i hope u wankers do read this because this is just rediculous... sure i know ur just doing ur end of year revenue raising... oops i mean job... but what i just seen was pathetic.

RAV4 parked on lower or middle or whatever dandenong rd that runs thru dingley... not on the side of the rd where it isnt a traffic hazard but parked in the left lane 10m from a corner.

a) if there is someone just behind or to the side of u what is ur natural instinct? speed up a little so as not to slow traffic down and change into the other lane. As its just after a corner u dont have much time to react just DO. So u get a nice glossy pic of urself doing 75 in a 60 zone to avoid raming into its arse.

B) u dont have time to change lanes so u have to stop and wait til someone lets u in or the traffic is non existant

i didnt get a ticket cause i know that only someone who works for the police force could truely be this stupid to park on the side of the rd and sit in the car right near a corner... but it think this is one of the most rediculous, hazardous and irresponsible things i have ever seen.

ur a pack of wankers and i hope ur next born child is born with a yellow sitcker on their forhead reading "DEFECTIVE"

*** u to the wanker cop who gave me a canary for having bald back tyres

then accusing me of doing burnouts

ITS A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE U ***N WANKER

:bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha:

then he proceeds to place the defect right infront of my face on the windscreen

:)

well in w/l she posted something about almost getting impounded

no they havent impounded it as yet.. im praying to god its not gonna happen..

but my rego was on a list of cars to be impounded

thats all i know at this stage

but a certain birdy told me im safe

so thats sorta a relief

but apparently they have already impounded over 40 cars

hehe.. somebody deleted ambz thread..

anyway, back to the point.

To be honest I doubt it was a cop, but seeing as the state government in all their wisdom decided to outsource the actual mobile revenue raisers out, they are not actually cops these days.

Therefore any dickhead, probably with little to no training can setup their car with the camera, no doubt told to find the most "appropriate" position (to get the most money, i'm not sure how this is specified), and sit on their ass all day and collect extra tax dollars for the government.

For a revenue raiser to block traffic like that is the biggest bullshit I have every seen. I was actually wondering that the other day, how long it would be before people in general get intelligent enough to realise that if a car is parked on the nature strip (is this actually illegal ??), then it could well be a camera and its best to slow down, even if its not....its what i do now - i don't even look at the road these days. This of course takes money away from them so they have to get to more drastic measures, which sounds like this situation.

grrrr

spotted something nice on sunday, *location not being mentioned for obvious reasons*

driving down X road I see a cardboard sign leaning up against a telephone pole it read "Speed Camera Ahead" and sure enough there he was...:(

Although I couldnt see it flashing anyone :) :)

i was a passenger in a car that wasnt speeding but it was just good / amusing to see.

wasnt police though, was the "revenue raiser" pred is talking about...

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.

    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
