Hey guys as the title states my uncle had one of his work utes stolen last week. It was taken in broad daylight from his workshop by two guys who rocked up in a commodore jumped straight in and drove off. The wierdest thing is this car has a 6 speed conversion before 6 speeds ever came out in the ford so reverse is in an unusual place in the top left where 1st normally is. This did not look as though it was an issue for them. Anyway, we have made a claim but while they had the ute it was involved in 6 high speed chases and never caught. It was found abandoned with smashed rims from all the gutter jumping, burnt out engine bay and half of the interior removed.

Its getting worse on a daily basis with all the vehicle theft that is going on.

thats terriable bud,

you think they knew you personally? or were they two grease monkeys that worked it out straight away.

was forced entry or was it not locked.

is it covered under insurance

wouldn't know wat to do if my baby got stolen.

It wasnt locked as it was on private property and being used throughout the day, not that its any excuse as all site vehicles will be locked when not in use from now on. It did seem strange however that they just drove in without hesitation, jumped in and drove away. How did they know it was going to be that easy if they had never been on the premises before? We got the whole thing on surveilence but the car is a financial write off now.

sorry to hear of your uncles misfortune, hopefully this doesn't deter him from having nice work vehicles but i guess that depends on how insurance treats him

better to be a financial write off than the insurance saying no we can fix it but things never seem the same again

Yeah, he definately did not want it back after what had been done to it. He owns quite a few nice work vehicles, his daily is a 380rwkw tornado ute plus a few 100 series cruisers and the like as company cars for various employees. As much as it is unfortunate that it was stolen there should be a new one in the driveway soon.

If you are referring to Viper alarms then you are not insured if you are with just cars. They dont meet australian standards, with just cars being my insurer they require me to have an alarm as well as immobiliser and viper alarms will see your insurance voided. This is common knowledge to the distributers of viper alarms and if you metion that you need it for insurance purposes upon purchase it is their duty of care to inform of this information.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
