Hello all...

I got a canary the other week... While I was working, while my car was parked in a car park on private property, I wasn't at my car, and to top it off, it was done by the TMU.

Is that possable, can the cops do that???

Any way to cut a long story short, one of the four things I got done over for was ground clearance. My muffler is about 97mm off the ground... and not 100mm!!! - I think I speak for everyone when I say this... BASTARDS!!! :P

And what I am asking is, does any one have a site that I can go to where I can find the factory grould clrarance for a R32 GTR.

My mate thats doing the RWC says that an R32 GTR comes out lower than 100mm (I really don't know) and he says that if I can prove it then all I have to do is show it to VIC roads and I get off on that one.

So if any one out there in Skyline world can help me (and the guy doing the RWC) prove the factory ground clearance is lower than 100mm, then I will lick balls... NO I WOULDN'T! ...I will just thank you heaps and heaps.

If your all wondering what I got dicked for it is...

Foward sharp projections - I didn't have a front bar on and the reo bar was showing. (I had a small stack a while back)

Drivers vission obstrustion - I have dog tags hanging from the mirror and apparently I cant see the road. ;)

Drivers instruments obstruction - I have a boost guage on my steering columb and apparently I cant see my dash.

Ground clrarance - My muffler is 97mm and not 100mm

I have one more question... I haven't touched the ride hight of my car at all, and I got the 15 year rule compliance thing done and have all the paper work for it. Is that enough to get me off the hook???

Thanks

Justin.

97mm what basterds.

Not sure about the defect on private propery? That would mean a cop could defect you if you were working on the car? odd

Jack your car up to lift the rear wheels off the ground. This will uncompress the rear springs.

When you place the car back down, the car will sit higher before they get compressed by the weight of the car

man that's all superficial stuff, just put the bumper on, get rid of the rice and jack your car up. no stress. bit harsh they got the car while parked tho... they are allowed to though.

Very bad luck mate. Car park on private property, i dont think they're allowed to do that are they? i mean meeting regulations and all is fair enough , but thats when the car is on the road, or at least parked on a public road! Even though you could sort out those defects, i would confront the bastards about the issue until someone with some sense there realizes whats happened.

I mean what if you had a club lock on the steering wheel or a sun shade covering the front window, is that an obstruction defect as well :)

In VIC the police are entitled to come into a private property as long as there is no gate or door they have to open to get in... if there is then they'd need a warrant or sufficient evidence that its necessary. So they can come into your driveway, or walk into a carpark.

Ok fair enough, but if it was a private carpark im asuming there would some kind of tollgate on entry and exit, i wonder if that could be argued.

I guess its like that there as well, they were righting up defects last night at a Maccas Car park here in NSW, wether you were near your car or inside eating didnt make a difference to them...

The reason they defected you was because you had no front bar on, which from experience they really don't like.

Hence why they were c**ts about it and picked on ride height, 97mm PFFT! and the other little shit. Did that make it a Major? Require a RWC?

Yeah they got me for 4 things so its a Major Defect... I put my car up on a hoist and checked out my exhaust to see if i could lift it any higher. And it won't... So i think i need to raise the car 10mm, get bigger rims or a new exhaust.

Does anyone know where to get one of them tool things to adjust the suspension? I got JIC Magic.

OR Does any one have spare 17 or 18 that i could slap on for the day while i get the RWC and get rid of this canary? ;)

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
