Will Nissan Introduction 6 Speed Manual In The New Gtr?

Recommended Posts

BMW has done it before with the V10 M5/M6 was initially offered with SMG only at the launch, then due to high demand from U.S. buyers that BMW released the 6 speed manual version 2 years later in 2007.

Does anyone have any new infomation regarding this?

Having driven both a SMG II (M5) and a DSG (VW GTI) I can tell you that BMW brought out the manuals, because their SMG II gearbox sucks.

The DSG is a great box in the GTI Golf, but the SMGII in the M5 was rubbish. I think Nissan would only bring a manual gearbox out for the "Evo" or maybe the V-Spec, more for reliable track work.

From what I have heard SMG II is a much improved gearbox over the orginal SMG and it has a faster gear change than the Ferrari 360 F1.

Eagerly awaiting news on the "track" versions then. Won't be long now.

Doubt it according to what funky has posted:

Munkey magic wasnt sure.

I am and i talked to a DSG engineer today..

there will NOT be a 6 speed in ANY GTR.

please see my thread.

If they are definately not going to go a 6 speed manual.. then is there possibilites there might be the 7 speed sequential that was talk about in the early days? Or should we definately cross out any chance of a manual type box going into the GTR?

it pays to read back some times

yeah i guess it does..

but i dont really know where abouts in my post i asked if we should definately cross out any chance of a 6 speed manual gearbox? m3gtr's post said there will NOT be a six speed.. But he didnt say there isnt gonna any type of manual box.. im just askin if there was maybe other possibilities in the future or just staying with wat they got!

nice try though :)

...if there isnt a 6 speed manual, then what will there be? A 7 speed? Think about the likelihood of that one.

I also said but you may have missed, is that there will NOT be a clutch pedal in the car.

That rules out a "manual" completely.

sorry if i didnt make that clear earlier.

ive been proven wrong countless times before, but i gave the info as i got it. And i gave it from a very reliable source first hand.

If it changes, for whatever reason, we will have to have this discussion again.

This isnt politics, Laurence, or is it?

It is always politics dude! If engineers ruled the world it would be a much more awesome place!

lol! how so? please indulge me..im all ears and eyes. i want to hear what you think about this!:)

am I the only one that wants my AWD to look like this now... I think pretty much all R32 to R34 GTR and GTS4 owners will agree that the shitty part about your car is the nose heavy feeling when trying to turn it.

    • Did you panel beat the dents or have you tried to repair this only using filler?  Is your sanding block soft/flexible and is following the shape of the panel rather then just knocking down the high points?
    • I haven't knocked them down yet. I think I made the repair more complex than it should have been. I had rock chips combined with waviness and dents and I tackled it all in one because it was near each other and just end up wasting a bunch of bog lol. I'll knock down those areas and see how I go. And yep what you are saying at the end is correct. I think I might be sanding the top of a steep hill then my sanding block falls into the dent and gets rid of the guidecoat if that makes sense. Though shouldnt unless I'm covering too big of an area with not a long enough block. I'll try something new and provide some updates. Getting there though! Thanks as always.
    • Yeah makes sense, hard to comment on your situation without seeing what your doing. I was talking generally before, I would not be looking to randomly create low spots with a hammer to then have to fill them.  It's hard without seeing what your doing, it sounds like you are using the guide coat to identify low spots, as you're saying the panel is still wavy. I don't see how you're not ending up with patches of guide coat remaining in a wavy panel? Once the high spots are knocked down to the correct level, surely to have a wavy panel you need low spots. And those low spots would have guide coat still in them?
    • So I'll put filler past the repair area a bit to make sure I don't miss anything. Then I'll block it until it's almost level, put the guidecoat, then keep blocking until it's gone. Then it's still wavy.  In regards to hitting the panel, I saw this video might give more context - Skip to 0:47 he knocks it down. But yeah I'm sanding until the guidecoat is gone then checking because otherwise my filler is still well above the bodyline. Unless what you're saying is I should put guidecoat around it early, surrounding the filler then stip once it's gone?
    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
