Haven't been on here much, let-alone post anything, but this time it's a must, as this is the best site for this car, and surely I can get some answers from you ppl! j/k :P

A mate of mine is importing a 93 GTR R32 from Japan, due here on the 15th and should be in his garage by the next week. He has offered me the chance to purchase it after a little bit so that I have a more reliable transport medium to get to work instead of my bike, which I can then work on to get it running right.

Anyway, what do I need to be warey of when going to look at the car, and what things let go before others on the Godzilla? It is Nissan, so the toughness would be there, but to be sure, I just want to know what I need to look out for. I am over getting raped when buying a car/bike, only to find something wrong with it.

Laser's gone (should really update my profile) so I only got the bike. Summer's here and I still have to suit up to get to work as I only have my bike now, as the laser blew up one night on the way home from work - timing chain was too loose and a valve hit the piston too many times and **BANG!!!**, goobye laser. Thinking back now I am glad it's gone too.

Thing is, I want a sports car, and the mate who I am buying it off is actually my boss, and he said he will sell it to me cheaper than if he sold it to someone else.

BNR32T - Why has you 32 spent more time off the road? what have you been doing with it/how have you treated it?

(This isn't meant to offend you in any way, I just want to know). I don't thrash cars (much - come on everyone does it) and with the GTR being a high performance car, I don't think I'll be needing to get under the bonnet to make any major (or minor) upgrades, any time soon after if and when I get it.

I've seen a few nice R33s and I like them too, but the R32-GTR is an icon, and I know alot of poeple who like them, and the 32s are in my price range too.

I read the post link about the other guy asking about the GTR...Man why is it that when I want a nice sporty car, I always seem to make near fatal decisions in regard to car integrety and all.....I might just be a bit too anxious. I just don't want to screw anyone around anymore. I've already backed out of one deal where I almost bought a shit bike...

I just want a really nice car. :P

nice sports car that is reliable and decently sporty and cheap to maintain and on fuel and light and nimble and brakes well and turns well and will keep you happy and be faster than the laser with the comfort of air con for under $20K???

Sounds like an S14 to me.

Aus delivered.

insurance is possible.

get the camry spec series 1.

no different mechanically to series 2 or the S15 for that matter.

very easy to maintain.

not as chatty interior as an S13 or 180.

Considering series 2 S14's are down around the $15K - $16K region (there is one for sale on this forum for $14K), the series 1 which is less thrashed as they're not sought after by the hektiks, are priced well below $15K

My old S14..

Interior

made 175rwkw on 14psi, fmic, turbo back exhaust, S15 Cat, filter, SAFC.

ran 13's.

had S15 shocks and springs and 300zx wheels (they're wider than S14 wheels).

back then (3 years ago), I bought it stock for $15K

Mods cost me:

HKS replica dump and front pipe = $200

S15 CAT = $30

Cat back = $420

filter = $70

FMIC = $500

Profec A boost controller = $150

SAFC = $150

Tune = $150

S15 shocks and springs = $250

never missed a beat.

had 120,000kms on it.

Only reason I still don't have it is it was stolen.

Forget the GTR on a budget mate.

The only thing BUDGET on an R32 GTR is the current purchase price.

you will spend AT LEAST that much more to make it a decent reliable car.

then ofcourse, you will sell it at a massive loss.

Spoke to my Boss. He's a bit of a business man, and said that he'd sell it to me for 18k...Am I getting raped? I am sort of thinking so. I haven't told him it's too expensive, but he wants to make a bit of money on it after he gets it - like I said, business man.

I dunno...I really got NFI what car I want next...In truth I'm being a bit of a sheep by wanting an import, but then I am being a sheep in saying I want an '07 Kawazaki Ninja 600 as well...cept the ninja is new and almost half the price.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
