hey,

Everytime in the morning when i jump in my car to warm the engine up i realise there are ocassional slight vibrations from the car...Its light vibration but definitely noticable, its kind of like when about to stall vibration but obviously not as bad but it occurs not only in the morning but even after the cars warmed up. However, I don't realise it at the traffic stops.

Any idea guys? Is the engine bad or something? Time for oil change u reckon? or 100k service (even though it shows cars done 50k, i don't believe).

Cheers

Come on guys, no one had problems like this before? I've tried to search for similar topics but couldn't come across any cuz others are actually stalling, and will vibrating whilst accelerating etc.

However, my car doesn't stall or vibrate as bad to stall when at idle and it goes away when driving...BUT it does vibrate VERY BAD going up hill at slowly but with abit of correction with acceleration the vibration goes away (i thought it was the clutch but now i think its connected)

Sounds like your spark is breaking down.

Could be plugs, a bad coil pack(s) or

ignition module (R31 > R33 S1)

Id start by replacing plugs, if it continues check the coils for arcing etc. Wrap them in amalganising (spelling) tape.

If that does not help chances are its your 15 year old coil packs letting go.

Theres a few options:

1. Splitfires (good alternative -not as good as new stockies IMHO)

2. Stockies (New) $$$$$$

3. Another after market solution (bosch, msd, AU falcon etc)

Yeah thanx for your input Wheezy, ive assumed it was the plugs and changed them to irridiums today which have SOLVED all the vibration and shudders whilst going up hill. The platinum ones were on the way to go...

And many thanks to the members who have given alot of attention with huge amount of reply advices :whistling:

lol sarcasm?

haha good issue though cuz i was having the same problem only i did what you did and presto!

i changed to splitfires + iridiums and it was gone.... maybe i should have just changed the sparkies lol but the SPLITs are awesome.

Yeah sparks in a untuned car will cause this.. Iridiums regapped from 1.1 to 0.8 I would assume you had. Its actually missfire thats happenin at idle I hate it but live with it.

What can you do I'm not going to bother paying for stupid platniums until next time.

wat is the the difference between 1.1 and 0.8? i just bought mine and were apparently 2 degrees cooler than normal and put them and it was working fine? what do they come as straight out of the packet? i think we measured it.. lol cant remember how much it was.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
