Timespan is going to let me know the dates - I will put the forms up here when I know.

I'm thinking about putting a challenge out to the Supra Club as well, that should be fun.

So start planning :)

$80

Certificate to place winners. Two cars on the track at a time at released intervals, lap finishes just before pit entry (they have taken out the straight). A very well organised event and professionally timed.

It will be a fun day.

This is where I understand the track will run...

Michelle!

Cheers for posting!!

wow - sounds like a great day but as Tim said, a few of us are at the Mountain that weekend for the supersprint/hillclimb!

How often does this event run?

Would be keen next year for sure!

  • 2 weeks later...
Looks like fun - how many runs do you get?

I know a lot of the guy are headed to Bathhurst that day.

I don't know how many runs as we haven't done this one before... I'll find out and get back to you.

Cheers

Michele

I just seen this thread...

why was it cancelled, not enough interest?

Is it possible to post a link on the supraforums when a event like this(or any other) is available? (in the cruise section).

I dont come in here often enough, and just like today, i havent seen this thread until now, so it would of been late anyway... but otherwise i would of been keen.

Ohh nooo

It seems there may be new rules with the new track owners... not making it viable to hold future events at Wakefield *sob* - I wonder where this leaves us holding SAU Track Days at Wakie in future? I was soooo looking forward to this event.

Folks

Following a brief discussion with Wakefield Park management today, I have to report that in view of the operating rules recently handed down by the new track owners, it is no longer viable for me to organize events there. Track hire charges are now prohibitive, the rules on event cancellation untenable & the apparent demise of karting events would appear to rule out any further 'standard' hillclimbs. Clearly, only 'big money' events will run at Wakefield Park in the future. Fortunately for the rest of us, Fairbairn Park (hillclimb) on Sutton Road in Canberra continues to be good value-for-money & as such, is worth the support of club motorsport folks. There are several other club level venues/events in our area equally worthy of your support.

I would like to thank you for participation in Timespan@Wakefield events over the past few years & wish you all a safe & pleasant Christmas & a great 2008.

Cheers......

Dave

SAU Canberra together with 5th Gear Motorsport were investigating holding a Supra vs Skyline Track Day @ Wakefield. I'm not sure where we stand now, but if it proceeds I will rally things up here and let everyone know.

*still sobbing*

that really sucks.

Michelle - I know we are looking at a day next year for a track day - I have also eailed them last few weeks and haven;t heard. Lets hope we can still book. We will keep you all updated.

But that really sucks

new owners suck!

  • 1 month later...

Make it a date 2 months down the track on one of the no speed limit days, and just pack the place full

Btw id be in FOR SURE if my motor is run in by then

Id love to race against supras

ACT is in the process of organising a Skyline vs Supra day which may extend to other clubs to make up the numbers.

clicky clicky for Skyline vs Supra thread

We are looking for approx 40 cars to break even on costs. We're looking for some interesting fun prize/trophy/certifcate ideas to make it interesting... see the ACT thread for more details.

I'll keep you posted once we know what is happening.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
