Cover note - ring up insurance, tell them car details, request insurance, they give you a reference number, you have a week or so to pay the bill (but are not obliged to pay, you can cancel). No insurance is silly.

When was it when you saw it there?

Yeah, I can confirm I've seen it in Melbourne.

Not in Springvale though - more so in Noble Park... that back bar and side skirts... I swear I've seen it.

If I were you, I would contact the Victorian Police and give them your VIN number... they'll put it on their register... so if they randomly pull people over with a similiar description, they can do a check... don't worry, in Springvale/Noble Park area - cops pull Skylines over all the time, You should be able to find it quick... good luck...

It was driving pass Springvale road towards the lights leading to Noble Park station... the driver was an Asian guy in his late 20's - looked like a street-wise kinda dude... I remember, as he pulled up to me and wanted to drag me - the Mrs. and I joked about how he would have no chance so I remember quite clearly... hope your brother gets his car back mate... ring the cops asap!!

Are you nuts? Are you advising his to commit insurance fraud? You know what the penalty is - 4 years jail and a criminal record for 15 years - stop being silly. :P

I should keep my eyes out. I'm around the Noble Park area and to be honest, I haven't noticed any black 33 like that.

I'm hoping that the guy in Noble just happened to have the same taste in kits etc.

Well we can confirm the guy is in the south-east! I saw the car again. WITH NO PLATES! Heading in the opposite direction on Springvale road at 1am.

Thanks mate. Am getting the VIN number and will be calling and email the Victorian Police.

What was the front bumper like? Cos that was down to the fiber glass and primer.

I'm hoping that is the case with the same kit too.

What was the front bumper like? was it the same and was it down to the fibregalss and primer still???

can't believe no 1 actually followed him when they saw it

not to confront him but until he gets home or something.

That'd be great if anyone does see it to follow it and call the cops PLEASE.

I reckon my brother would be up to giving a reward if it is found.

Update: Last weekend 5/01/08 at approx 1:24pm, I saw the same car again - I drove after it this time... but unfortunately, the day saw heavy traffic, so I lost him... it's definitely your car, looks exactly like the one in the picture... however, it had some plates on it this time... i only got the first two letters, and please please do not hold me to this as it was from a distance, but it think it was " P L .... " something something...

The guy definitely lives in the Noble Park area - what you should do is this... call the cops, then with their support, put up pictures of your stolen car all over the area, e.g. NP Coles, community centres, schools, unis etc... he'll get caught sooner than later... but, with different plates, I don't know....

I know this is bad... keep at it mate.

holy shit why the f**k was it even on the road without insurance?

thats nothing but trouble

at least its still in one peice driving around and has been torn apart and sold off in parts

EDIT: Put up signs in the area he lives in and u will find the car will just disapear off the face of the earth. Its not the best idea i personally wouldn't put up signs just spend alot of time in that area prepared. Honestly the cops dont really search for these things so may as well take it into ur own hands

Putting up signs would be a bad idea, Because once he knows that people are onto him why would he drive the car? I know if i stole a car (never would) i would not be driving it around for ages more so if people from the area know its here.

But on the plus side people in his street might see the signs and report him so i can go both ways for you.

IMO try the police with pics ect and the locations its been spotted.

First of all i hate nothing more than people who steal our fine ass cars, and i know that they just treat it like crap anyway.

I wouldnt be putting up any posters though, dont know what the area is like but if there isnt to many servo's around maybe get them in on it, he has to fill up sometime just a matter of where.

Anyway all the best in finding the car, if ya get him before the cops do give him a royal beating :(

What kind of dumb thief would steal a car, go to another state/city and drive it there? I think it's just a coincidence that the car spotted in Noble Park is similar to the one reported stolen.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for it. I live in the area so it shouldn't be too hard to spot it more than once.

Thanks guys for your help. Will get onto the police stations around there. Did the front bar still have primer and all grey still or have the f*****s painted it back to black?

Still got my hopes up but cant say the same for my brother :)

    • @Haggerty this is your red flag. In MAP based ECU's the Manifold pressure X RPM calculation is how the engine knows it is actually...running/going through ANY load. You are confusing the term 'base map' with your base VE/Fuel table. When most people say 'base map' they mean the stock entire tune shipped with the ECU, hopefully aimed at a specific car/setup to use as a base for beginning to tune your specific car. Haltech has a lot of documentation (or at least they used to, I expect it to be better now). Read it voraciously.
    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
