Hey guys,

Ive just bought a R34 GTT tiptronic coupe.

i know the basics about the car.

I currently have a S14 Silvia pushing 200rwkw aswell so i am no newbie when it comes to cars.

I am just wanting help in finding inforamtion about the R34 GTT's, could some 1 maybe point me in the right direction.

Such things as, What turbo it has on it? What are the AR ratios? What kinda timing can you run thru them on 10psi with the stock intercooler?

Are they an all alloy head and block?

Do they have a crank gurdle?

etcetc..

I know SR's quite well but am unfamilar with the neo RB25's and general R34 range. I like to know my cars inside and out so any help on othetr threads, FAQ's other sites etc are appreciated

Ive serached the forums a few bit, but only found limited info

THANKS GUYS

:(

I too need some info on this car... I'm looking all over the place for confirmation of the turbo specs. I want to know what it is, T28, T3, hybrid? I'm being told differing things... I know it's got a T3 flange, but I'm told it's a T28... and I found something that said the A/R's were .60 compressor, .40 turbine, which would make it seem unlike any other turbo I've ever run across. Typically they're reverse of that, and the A/R's aren't an even .40 or .60... like .48/.63 or something like that. This is highly unusual to me. Seems based on the housing sizes, it would be a T3 compressor, and a T28 turbine... with the cartridge being a T3 or T28 BB, I'm not sure there either... ;)

I also want to know the trim, and the wheel sizes if anyone knows.

I've also read there's a series 1 and series 2, with the series 1 being the nylon comp wheel, and the series 2 being aluminum? Which really doesn't matter because the only thing I'm not liking about it is the Ceramic turbine wheel.

I've seen pictures on here if a series 2 R34 GTT turbo that was being sold... but it didn't have the A/R's stamped on it... so that didn't help.

I suppose a Part number might help, but then it might not.

I'm putting this on my USDM S14a 2.4L... I think it should make some pretty respectable numbers based on what I've read so far, and it ought to be big enough for the 2.4L but not laggy... my concern is the damn ceramic turbine wheel, and I'd LOVE to replace that wheel with a aluminum or steel wheel. That's another thing I don't know, is that even possible?

Someone help me out... and don't hate me because I'm from the US... I hate Americans too... believe me... I have to live among these morons... if anything, pity me... and help me out.

Yeah I've seen all that info too. It was easy to find. The turbo specs I'm after are HARD to find... I hope someone knows, because I'm putting this turbo on my car if it's worth using. So I want to know exactly what I got for my $240 (USD)... Which seems like a deal, but without the specs, it sounds like a turd that can't boost past 11 psi, with wheels that can't be upgraded to be able to handle more boost without breaking...

If that's the truth then... :( time to sell it to an unwitting american ricer with too much money and not enough brains. I'll tell them it's a Skyline R34 BALL BEARING Turbo and sell it for like $600... ;)

Someone give us some positive info. Or tell me it's a turd and I'll sell it right off.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
