Hi,

Im just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem. Ive got a GT35r high mount turbo on an RB26, and i had the dumpipe and exhaust fabricated while the turbo had a 0.82ar turbine housing. Ive since had to change to a 1.06ar turbine housing and, while the turbo sits in exactly the same position, the exhaust now doesnt line up by a significant margin. I understand the housings are different, but i would have thought that they may have been interchangable without significant modification to the exhaust.

The reason why im asking is that i also took my exhaust off, so im wondering whether its the new turbine housing or (incorrect) fitment of the exhaust.

Has anyone had experience whith this problem?

Thanks,

Shaun.

Isnt the turbine housing a bit longer? to makeup the 1.06?

Not just wider... hrm. I cant remember when i had a .63 and .82 what the difference was side by side.

If it is longer, then that would indeed push the whole setup back "X" amount and thus things wouldnt line up.

^^^^^^ Thats what i wanted to know, thanks.

It doesnt really make sense; the dump pipe is in exactly the same position as it was with the 0.82; if it was out even slightly it would foul on something because the tolerances in that part of the engine bay are so tight. Something else is going on but im buggered if i know what it is. There is only one way an exhaust can go on!

Oh, i dont have the 0.82 anymore to compare.

Shaun.

Theyre both external gate.

Aparently the boost was uncontrollable with the 0.82 housing, hitting about 17 psi at about 2000 rpm. This was with a 9:1 compression ratio and 44mm external gate. Hopefully it'll be a little more relaxed with the 1.06 housing. Ive just gotta get that f**king exhaust modified first.

Shaun.

17 psi at 2000 rpm, i dont think so. would be near double that.

Why dont you think so, mate? Thats why im going through this whole process. If it made 17psi at 4000rpm id be happy, and not be bothered changing to the 1.06. Besides, its an atypical engine set up.

I dont know what your basis was for making that comment.

Oh just seems alot faster then anyone else is getting, i wish my setup would perform like this! Id be very happy.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
    • So 10/10 times that code is coil packs? I mean if that's the case ill drop the $400USD or so to replace them. I didn't know these cars threw codes before the issue became an issue.
