Where Can I Buy One Of These Little Connectors? (4pin Connector)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

In the globebox, right next to the boost controller there are 3 plugs, two of them are connected and the 3rd disconnected, I *think* its for the Apexi pen turbo timer but I'm not 100% sure.

Unfortunately its not connected at the moment, someone ripped it out at some point :(

Does anyone know where I can get a connector for it like the pictures attached?

Anywhere that does postage or in the South Eastern suburbs would be great :D

Regards,

Gareth

Hi,

Ok sure but whats the part called? Does it have a name that I can look for on the website?

I should add that the turbo-timer came installed with the car (from my knowledge), its just that at some point between auction and Australia it got removed and I don't know how/why.

harness for apexi pen turbo timer

Hmm, I looked at the apexi pen turbo timer harness and I thought the connectors look different.

just change the male and female ends of it....jaycar or dick smith have matching plugs

Now that sounds like a good answer, I'll drop by dick smith and ask them for a plug that looks like that :P

Now I just have to get the wiring right with the plug and its all good.

DickSmith and Jaycar didn't have an exact match for the plug, neither did the place I got sent to in Carnegie (radioparts?)

Anyway, I've got a 2 sided 4 pin connector so my new idea is to remove the old connector and replace it with an Australian standard connector.

Only thing I'm confused on is the end of the Apexi turbo timer has 5 wires as you can see in the second picture, so how do I wire the turbo timer to the new connector?

I looked at the Apexi wiring diagrams but I don't think thats what I'm looking for, the "control unit" (the timer) has 5 wires that are not connected to any plug, I need to wire that to something but the only thing in the glovebox is a 4pin plug which I think is for the timer.

Gareth

And I did appreciate your first attempt to help me.

I understand this as replace the plug in pictures 1 & 2 with a new plug that can be bought from Jaycar or Dick Smiths. Wire the existing 4 wires that are going into the plug into 4 slots in the new plug (female end?).

The wire your turbo timer directly to this new plug (male end?) and its all good.

Well at least that is what I want to do.

The part of your post I find confusing if you mention a "56276BL", a 6 way connector? I've bought a 56274BL, a 4 way connector because one end only has 4 wires...

My issue is the Apexi turbo timer, currently has 5 wires on the end of it, its not connected to anything and hasn't been since I got the car. And the other plug that it *looks* like it will connect to has 4 wires.

The problem I have is, how do I connect these 5 bare wires to the plug in my glovebox. Or am I looking at the wrong plug for this?

Some of these plugs in the glovebox run too a boost controller as well so I think this is the correct plug that I'm looking at, I'm not 100% sure.

Does that make more sense?

I'm better at the IT side of things unfortunately (software) >_<

P.S. I'll send my washing over soon lol

ok so you could answer your own question by this.....your trying to connect a device that has 5 wires right?Well IF the device was connected to the plug with 4 wires.....that tells me the person didnt do a very good job on fitting it.He has left one wire off......why?????Trace those wires and use what you need.....Dont assume....asumption is the mother of all f**k ups.......red wire------>12v hot at all times Blue wire -----> IG output (12v ign on) Green wire----> IG output (12v acc) Gray wire----> hand brake

Black wire ----->Earth White wire -----> O2 sensor

the device has 5 wires....thats why i suggested the 6 way connector.

i wont wish you any luck....its as easy and hair pie >_<

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
