Hey Guys,

Just wondering i have the oppurtunity to buy a set of R33GTR number plates (SA) off a mate... he has moved to NSW

and i live in VIC...

I rang the SA motoring authority and they advised that i would need a SA residence/address to own these plates

I'm not going to assign them to a car as of yet as i havent quiet found the right R33GTR for me...

But i dont wana pass up the oppurtunity to buy these rare plates...

Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion...??? >_<

Basically i would have to say that i Brenton Ford blah blah blah ... live at xxx address i want to register these plates...

That address would get like 1 or 2 letters per year

and i would just request that i get those letters forwarded to me or emailed a copy so i can make the appropriate payments etc

If anyone would like to assist post here or please contact me on 0429093400 , PM me or [email protected]

I know im just a new member but assistance would be greatly appreciated

Im also a long member of Antrx.com

Thanks.

Brent

Hi Brent,

These are my mates plates and used to hang out with him every weekend when he lived in Adelaide.

Cant believe he is finally selling the plates and so many years.

Hope you can find someone to do it!!!

Im not registering them to a car... just buying the "Rights" to those plates so i just need a SA residential Address...

Basically i wont get fines

As they are not going on a car...

The only letters that would be sent out is the annual registration that would be it i guess...

Im jst not too sure of SA law n stuff but basically in VIC u get a letter with your registration, or in the case of plates u would get a 'renew your plates' bill and that would be it...

And i've heard that the SA custom plates are $190 a year

But yeh baically it will just be calling the SA road authority using the address i have been given by a very generous SAU member :P

and put them under my name then be a proud owner of some rare plates :O

I could provide $$$ for the use of someones address but yeh i'll do a touch more investigating but if someone is intereseted please PM me or just post here

cheers

does your mate have them on a car?

if you don't mind me asking why do you want these plates exactly as you won't be able to use them on your car if you live in Vic. Are you just planning on having them for shows ect.

Lee you don't have to have a SA license to have a car registered here

Lee you don't have to have a SA license to have a car registered here

Yeah, I know this part luke, but I was looking at it from the point of view if his permenant residence is noted down as south australia (to own the plates), then he must have a south australian drivers license as he would be considered a resident of the state.

UNLESS you can be considered a resident of 2 states at the same time?

technically you can't. If you live for 3 months in a state you have to transfer to their licenses. and are meant to cancel you other one (but no one does)

I was thinking more that if Brent doesn't want to allocate the plates to a car then he doesn't have to buy the right he can simply buy the plates from the guy

In all honesty i was buying them for an investment...

I know it probably not guna make much money but you never know it could mean something to some SA guy and he could pay me a bit more than i paid for them thats all...

Im looking at buying http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...0k-t191158.html

R33 GTR 55,000kms Compliant unregistered no wheels For sale on here...

20K in melb im going to look at it this weekend if i can contact the guy

And i could use the plates in photos etc

But yeh now that i have told u that i want to buy them for an investment it will probs get back to the seller and he will ask for more but it happens...

Edited by Brent_Ford

ok if you just want them for photos ect you can just buy them and not worry about the rights

for an investment you will need to use an SA client no, you can't just put the address down as our "proof of identity" policy is very narrow and you will need to provide original document with the address printed on it. In the recent months they have really cracked down on this. I'm an agent for transport SA and are allowed to sign and licensed to do all the paperwork and inspections on vehicles yet i am still unable to hand in photocopies of people documents.

you will have to pay the 190 per year, if they elapse for more than 12 months the number is then available for someone else to use.

if there is anything elese you need to know feel free to ask :P

OUCH!!!

haha oh well offers that seem so easy always wind up being a pain in the ass if not impossible

LAME!!!

thanks heaps for the advise that oppurtunity goes out the window

but as i said i might be a worthy member in a while if i buy this GTR

i do currently own a 93 Nissan SSS Bluebird

but GTR here i come haha

thanks guys tlk soon

cheers

Have spoken to him via email and you can PM him at nutshunglow on SAU.

I do not want to disclose the on here just incase there is more than one person trying to buy his plates.

He is selling his whole car by the way if any one is interested, R33 GTR of course.

You can PM him as above.

    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
